Roma tomato harvesting crew in Los Banos CA. It takes longer to fill a roma bucket vs round tomatoes, so the crew spends more time bent over, working in the hot, trapped humidity of the plant rows. The heat wears them out as they carry full 50lb buckets to the trailer. #WeFeedYou

What’s one of the oldest objects you’ve seen that genuinely made you stop and stare? We’ll go first: a copy of Homer’s Odyssey in Ancient Greek, printed in Venice in 1488 that we got to take a look at today 📚

Photograph of a large old book. The book is bound in bright red leather cover which has gold engravings around the edge. In the middle there is also a gold crest, signifying the book is from King George IIIs library. Photograph of inside the book from the previous image. Page shows the first page of Homer’s Odyssey written in Ancient Greek. The pages are visibly old, and are a darker beige with darkened edges.

Fighting for and winning the right to free movement of all people is fundamental to any chance survival of our species and our world. Borders will increasingly mean extermination, genocide and treating people as expendable

“Here’s a radical thought: what if migration is only a problem to those who want it to be? What if we started seeing the mass movement of people less as an existential threat and more as a simple inevitability of human existence?”

I had to code and pronounce a time of death on a respiratory therapist colleague. There's a memorial plaque for her outside the emergency department to this day. I wrote and re-wrote my will. I will never forgive these ghouls trying to rewrite history and deny our experience.

RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>

It was so damn depressing to watch every TV writer who was willing and eager to have open, intelligent conversations about their process get hounded off social by a combination of aggressive stans and belligerent wannabes defending the right to be a shithead to creatives

I keep thinking about the discourse from the other day suggesting writers are gatekeeping writing information for ourselves and I just think back to 2019 when every writer was out there giving away writing advice until one by one each stopped because social media blows and we can't have nice things.

Digging through archives for two years only to finally find something that makes you go: "Well... damn, I've been wrong for TWO YEARS?!" is a crucial part of the historical process and these idiots will never put the work into learning how that is important.
