Get a load of this Muslim over here. Scary right? We’re normal for thinking this for the record. Write that down.

Once a librarian, always a librarian. Founding member, Trifecta of Young Evil. Fat liberation. BL person, bed person, writer of fanfic. Self-possessed cool aunt, teenager girl, rad fat lady in my 40s and tbh it's pretty fucking great.
Abdul should get on the phone to Jack and ask for Seven Nation Army and I’m actually not kidding at all.
lol I am convinced the most UNDERRATED quality in adults is reliability. If you're reliable, you'll probably go further than you think.
I have a business selling thingamajigs that do not work and that's why I think this city should force every resident to buy and use my thingamajigs even though they don't work
Commentary: Chicago’s next mayor can lead the way: Draft the AI playbook every city in the country will copy and transform how local government delivers for residents.
New article just dropped in Block Club about the driver shortage at CPL, and where things stand now with delayed holds: blockclubchicago.org/2026/08/05/t...
Thousands Of Books Are Piling Up In Chicago Libraries Due To Staffing Shortage
The backlog has librarians scrambling to find space and keep track of books in the system. Library workers say it's a ripple effect of a delivery driver shortage — and patrons have started checking ou...

trade in NFL: we only got you 3 weeks ago so in another 3 we'll work you into the scheme trade in MLB: oh you land at 9 cool you're the starting pitcher at 11 see you there
By almost any reasonable standard, Abdul is wildly different than Platner— he’s not an unknown, he’s thoroughly vetted, there’s no allegations or hint of ugliness. The murmured equivalencies were embarrassing for the writers who deployed it.
I'm not irritated by Dirty Work, just by people who buy it. And the "AES is Platner" articles and insinuations were dirty work, and some folks who traded in it are absolute Suckers who should not be heeded going forward.
If you go into fandom with an understanding that no blorbo is perfect and nothing is The Best Thing Ever except for the purposes of fannish squealing hyperbole, you'll have a much nicer time. I love being a fan of bad and terrible things! It enriches my fandom ecosystem no end.
Being a fan of things that are objectively Bad, whether they're low quality, badly acted, badly edited, badly sung, have terrible lyrics, whatever, will free you from the shackles of so many fandom problems and cultivate a healthy cognitive dissonance in your brain.
Once again I think people in fandom would do well to get used to being a fan of things that are Bad, and I mean ranging from a bit shit to genuinely terrible. Your monkey brain has its own taste in blorbos and if it hasn't already it will be humbled one day soon by becoming a fan of a Bad thing
I have had it with this. There was a NOTAM that the GPS jamming activities were taking place in the area. Pilots must check NOTAMs prior to departure, especially commercial pilots. It is part of the damn job. If you need GPS to fly then reconsider your career choices.
Holy shit. www.wired.com/story/a-civi...
I say again, "These surveillance regimes will not keep you or your children safe because they are actively preying on you": Rather than the predators, people focus on rigidly controlling children's ability to explore the world, from no third spaces to tracked online life, thus making Them targetable
the push for ID checks online is designed to make children easier to target; Meta is one of the companies lobbying for these types of legislation. the whole idea is to continue to target children as a lucrative market by assuring parents that giving children unmanaged tablets is safe.
A system that protected Hastert and Jordan and Trump etc etc (feel free to add your fave) is not going to be even the slightest bit worried abbot a man who beats women and breaks a two year old's collarbone
You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.
i think a lot of well-meaning people fall into a rhetorical trap where they take the bait and argue about male vs. female performance in sports rather than arguing for the value and dignity of women’s athletics generally. don’t let yourself be dragged into a bad faith framing.
the best HS teams in the country have multiple guys who will be in the NBA in a couple of years. they aren't normal high schools, they're basketball factories. but this literally doesn't matter. the value of women's sports isn't contingent on their performance vis a vis men.
Susana Mendoza just slammed the Archer Av. bike lanes as a debacle that has made traffic worse, saying that Archer used to be a great shortcut & a fast thoroughfare. On @wbez.org with @sashaannsimons.bsky.social Anyone who has ever traveled on Archer knows this is BS. It's always been a car sewer
research has actually become a lot harder now that google doesn't really recognize booleans anymore
To be very clear, extrajudiciously killing people you suspect are drug traffickers is *also* murder
The US military’s strikes on alleged drug boats have likely illegally killed “individuals who are not involved in narcotrafficking,” Sen. Tim Kaine told the White House, following “a careful review” of classified information he has seen so far.
I’m so tired of being told by politicians that they’ve tried nothing and they’re all out of ideas

I love when you ask someone why they have to use AI and suddenly all other search engines don’t exist there is no spellcheck besides quill bot and no one has yet invented a map, or a book, to look at for reference. You see no one was able to write anything prior to 2022. It was impossible.
This thread (which Robin pursues down a couple different, useful forks) is a great overview of the mess that is eBook licenses for libraries, especially 24-month expiring licenses for books in series! (Context: cost per circ = cost per each time it's checked out.)
Book 1 is $59.99 went out 4 times. Cost per circ $14.99 Book 2 is $59.99 went out 4 times. Cost per circ $14.99 I'm not buying book 3. If the cost per circ was $5 or $3, I wouldn't mind. But that is WAY too high, especially for a thing that expires after 2 yrs.
It's definitionally eugenics, culling of the vulnerable of the population because their lives are considered discardable. It has actual roots & heritage.
The MAHA position is that if some illness they let run rampant kills you but you have any other disability or health condition you had it coming and it’s not their fault.
