I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Visited the new Chicago Brand Museum today. It's fascinating. (It's not a museum of just Chicago brands; it's a museum of lots of brand, which happens to be located in Chicago.) Fans of typography, graphic design, package design, and more will love it.

While we are in this Greek Mythology moment, may I remind you that Emma Thompson is adapting Pat Barker’s take on The Iliad, and she’s struggled to get it made bc the focus on what acts of war against women and survival thereafter actually look like (the core of Barker’s narrative) is too intense.

One core way I am Very Basic is that I’m an Odyssey nerd, I have an Athena half sleeve, I have a *specifically ridiculous* translation of the odyssey as epigraphs to my first graphic novel, I’m very very here for this moment in culture and too busy to see the dang movie for another week 👎👎

I am so irritable from being inside with three kids aged 5-10 for four days and they are amaziiiing young people, truly so funny and sweet and easy-going and self sufficient, and oh my lord I really want to go outside and for the air to be fully okay again 👎👎

Sorry to get woo-woo but I’ve been married 16 years today and I have 3 cool-ass kids who are WONDERFUL and I love teaching and I am making pretty okay art and it’s really really nice and I feel unimaginably lucky and life is just so lovely, despite it all

This is a very thorough statement and I support the artists collective. I truly hope there can be a positive resolution. I want there to be a thriving space for interesting, political, and queer comics, but that also needs to come with fair treatment to the artists who make those books.

Creators at Silver Sprocket have released a public statement regarding longstanding concerns with the business practices of the company which alleges issues around payment of royalties, poor treatment of staff, and lack of professionalism. I've got a decent amount of younger followers so I'll clarify ; this is not a "callout post" or "cancelled!!" type statement, nobody wants Silver Sprocket to die, as it is home for many comics from queer, marginalized folk, that otherwise would not have gotten work out there. Simply, we want Better!

I keep reflecting on the MIA exhibit currently on display entitled, Modern Art and Politics in Germany 1918-1945. The following is a wood cut created by Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945). Echos of recent ICE raids here in Minneapolis abound. More pics from the exhibit on my Patreon at patreon.com/JimKeefe
