To folks who think caving on things like “Lake America” doesn’t matter in the long run… It does. It invites more such ego-serving It suggests that there’s no push back. It teaches people to expect more of the same. It matters.
There are endless studies showing this and also the financial and societal benefits of universal basic income and or housing-first policies but the U.S. never goes for any of it because it would require allowing the poor to receive benefits that the rich consider “undeserved”

Welp, there it is. The CDC is now officially manipulating data and their count of measles deaths in 2026 now stands at ZERO. My understanding of reportable diseases is that the CDC would usually use a state health department’s determination as the final say. The new CDC Director is failing us.
