No. This is false. The crew ignored two NOTAMs and tried to visual on a moonless night. GPS jamming (which occurs regularly and was one of the NOTAMs) did not actively corkscrew them into the mountain. I’ve reposted other, more accurate explanations of this incident.

The key components of the bill would grant the NCAA and conferences a limited antitrust exemption to re-implement the one-time transfer exception, standardize a five-year eligibility policy, ban professional athletes from returning to college, establish an agent registry and maximum fee (5%) and, as noted above, create a more strict athlete revenue-share cap.

My very first manuscript I submitted as a first year grad student had this review: “When I read the title to this manuscript I was very excited. As I continued reading, my excitement quickly waned.” Still doing this thing, and at least a small percentage due to spite.

The “losing control” narrative creates the loss of control. Nobody is losing control of an emerging intelligence. They’re redirecting their own agency to it, as a way of diffusing responsibility, but the self-perpetuated intelligence myth has them convinced they have no choice.

2.2 Analysis of primary test archive Note that we used a consistent analytical approach rather than the authors’ originally proposed analyses. Not all original proposals detailed their proposed analytical approach, and when they did, there was a lot of variation in the proposed analytical approaches, including differences in exclusion criteria, statistical models (e.g. regression, MANOVA, etc.) and assumptions (e.g. controlling for demographics or particular variables), which would make it difficult to compare results across experiments. To generate comparable statistics across experiments, we needed an analytical approach that is consistent across experiments. Using a consistent approach also helped us avoid research bias. In the primary test archive, we estimated correlation for all effects across studies. The aim of this analysis was to estimate how accurately our LLM-based approach can predict the size of experimental contrasts across social-scientific studies. To allow commensurability between the different outcome variables across studies, all responses were first converted to percentage points (where 100pp corresponds to the full scale of the outcome measure). For each condition and outcome, we computed a weighted mean of LLM predictions to ensure representativeness by prompt demographics as some demographic profiles (e.g., Black profiles) were oversampled to support the subgroup analyses. We treated this weighted average as the LLM-predicted mean, which we then used for computing effect sizes. Since most experiments did not include a designated control condition, we estimated effect sizes relative to a randomly-chosen reference condition using the following process: we (a) randomly selected one control condition per study against which we compare all other conditions (and one dependent variable, in cases where the original study contained multiple), (b) computed the LLM-predicted treatment effects using the approach described above,
