I did maths at school but I must have missed the class where they said a km is 1,000 meters. I thought it was 1024 until I spoke in a seminar at university and felt a shame that's lasted for 31 years so far.

Another excellent #FestivalOfComputing this year. Delivered my session, put the world to rights with familiar faces and learned loads. Oh, and I got the best delegate number as well! Thanks to Craig Dave, Johnny Palmer FCCT CITP, Fran Round and everyone at Bromsgrove School for organising.

When I first started teaching, teachers made their own resources, which gives you a much better understanding of why you're teaching something and where it's leading. Now lots of teachers buy them because we don't even get time to do the actual job properly.

the feeling I'm getting using Claude at work is that if you're a good engineer with deep knowledge of the codebase, it can make you a lot more productive. if you're a mediocre engineer with surface level knowledge of the codebase, it can also make you a lot more productive, which is BAD.
