Just announced at NYCC: there's going to be a MURDOCH MYSTERIES comic!! I'm writing it, @jasonloo.bsky.social is drawing and colouring, and lettering is by Andrew Thomas. It's a Canadian all-star team and I am really excited to share this with you all! Soon! SOOOON.
It's a shame that the current conservative movement in this country believes that nostalgia confers a property right or there would be a dead-easy policy solution to this problem.
“Why do Canadians think we could ever pose a threat to them? Absurd. Overreaction.”
Trump on taking Cuba: "I think I'll have the honor of conquering Cuba. That wouldn't be bad. It would be a great honor. I can liberate it or conquer it, I think I can do what I want with it." #cdnpoli

Clearly the problem is not enough parking. Closing a street obviously hurts vendors. @toondreessen.bsky.social @brenttoderian.bsky.social
We should be making it clear that anything they exempt in the name of preserving US supply chains would be subject to export tariffs or even bans.
“.. The same legal authority could be used to prohibit imports from Canada, the US official added, and the Trump administration is analyzing those imports to determine which prohibitions would not disrupt US supply chains. @semafor.com www.semafor.com/article/08/2...
These provisions were tailored to comply with CUSMA. The real galaxy-brain move would be to just say that all CUSMA provisions in the digital chapter have no force and effect because the USA is blatantly violating the agreement. That would open up a lot of new options for better digital policy.
After U.S. targets culture, Bloc asks Carney to backtrack on DST, CanCon payments
Canada-side tolls on the Ambassador Bridge and the tunnel, set the tolls for the Gordie Howe Bridge at $0.00, start really putting the screws to the Moroun family
"Lucy definitely won't pull the football this time" —the Canadian business class
So maybe the U.S. and Canada reach a deal today. Okay. But how many hours until Trump gets annoyed at the way beavers build dams or Canada geese shit in upstate New York before he imposes 125% tariffs on Degrassi High reruns?
Just for fun, we should make every province start a town with no real zoning beyond infra corridors and see what happens
In this week's column, I agree that Canada needs to weild more economic weight with one objective in mind: Beating Trump. (Featuring a @jamellebouie.net shout-out) Gift link in next skeet. www.thestar.com/opinion/star...
Justin Ling: To hit back at Trump, Canada needs to supercharge its boycott of American goods
The federal government should encourage all Canadians to wield their purchasing power against the U.S. president.

This is about where I'm at. Make a single painful escalation then go dark. Ask any other country, or ourselves, whether America's word is worth anything on trade deals. The answer is no. You cannot bargain with a country that will not keep its word.
I'll say it again... bsky.app/profile/step...
If existing agreements are invalid, so be it. Oil, energy, fertilizer. Anything that goes south, the agreement is void like the Howe Bridge. We could use that power up here. State of emergency to rush build E-W export infrastructure. Dynamite the approaches to the Maroun bridge.
Light em up on this one. Tax the oil spend the money. Build whatever we need to build. tell them to fuck off loudly
I really do worry that one of my major fears has started coming to pass, that this is increasingly moving beyond a Trump fixation that the rest of the GOP slavishly humours, and into something that they've genuinely internalized and made their own.
The more exposure I have to municipal planning & approval processes, the more I think provinces should strip municipal discretion entirely. Burn it to the ground, salt the earth. Send every city a copy of the building code and tell them this is the only basis they can decide permits on.
My speech in support of the Villages plan at council just now
I mean personally I'm at "forget the status quo, I want reparations from you lot" but I don't dictate policy to the LCBO
Anyway, mark this up in "Americans wish to be free of consequences for their govt, and also dont understand canada"

An important reminder of ties between the Canadian far right and Hoekstra. Also worth remembering Hoekstra’s links to 10x Votes, software used by the Centurion Project which is currently being investigated for the voter data leak.
Tamara Lich wasn’t the only one at Pete Hoekstra’s Fourth of July bash I did a head count: Over a dozen Canadian far-right activists and right-wing alternative media personalities, (including from the Juno and Rebel media outlets) got invites to the US ambassador’s official residence
Get -- and I cannot stress this enough -- fucked
WASHINGTON – A Republican congresswoman for New York says she is introducing legislation to compel the United States Trade Representative to conduct an investigation into Canadian provinces that are not purchasing American alcohol.

As I keep saying, the relevant Supreme Court of Canada precedent, R v Sharpe, 2001 SCC 2, is that illustrated, imaginative & non-photographic media constitute CSAM. We had (and might still have) a chance to take a hostile player off the board before the AB ref, QC election.
Not to pick on Malone, but a weirdly large group on Bluesky both notices that Musk is attempting an active measures campaign against the UK but also thinks the solution is for His Majesty’s Department of Trains to quit X instead of doing what states usually do to people trying to regime change them.
Bluesky as a whole should be intellectually hostile to this RFK-ass bullshit. It’s the gateway to antivax stuff that literally kills people.
Probably support for belfast riots, explicit support for far right across europe, SCIF meeting with albertan separatists, CIA scouting Greenland for separatists, Sicario in mexico. Like this is a terror state
That said. Personally, I’d call Hoekstra in, show him a PNG letter, and ask him why I shouldn’t sign it and issue it to him. If I were Anand. And if he snarked in response, I would sign it and hand it to him.
