I remember a coworker in her late twenties saying this on how dating was so difficult. I was not surprised by her first two complaints: general anger issues and having few outside hobbies. I WAS surprised at her mention of how many men apparently don’t wash their hair or butts.

people getting upset about this is so crazy. bsky needs to become more than just a liberal politics app. doesn’t mean it needs more nazis & right wingers, just means it needs less politically focused users. it’s not good to be in your own little bubble, can’t have change with nobody to influence.

"Housing delayed is housing denied" isn't just a saying. There are carrying costs associated with delays. Non-profits don't have a lot of room in their budgets. So affordable units get reduced. If we're asking for more consultation, let's tell the public the price tag. In this case, $9 million.

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

I think the conspiracy is comforting to people -- "a few bad guys did this." The reality -- "electeds, planners, and most of the public believed that the car was the future and rail transit was outdated" is actually more unsettling since it raises the question of what we're getting wrong now.

This is correct - as is evidenced by the average Amazon item being lower-quality than something that was mostly intended to be sold in a physical store.

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

Russia has started employing North Koreans for the Wildberries warehouses. You understand the importance of Wildberries for the Russian regime when they are forced to import migrants to keep this system running.

It seems relevant that the thing Isaiah is being sent to do in that passage is to deliver a prophecy of doom to his own people for having fallen away from the path of righteousness. So if these guys were like, Isaiah, that would be robustly bad news for...the United States.

By all means. I would add that we know it's a surveillance bill bc it's supported by surveillance companies. OpenAI makes software that encourages kids to harm themselves, X runs a CSAM generator. They are not motivated by kids safety, they just want more data on everyone

Jokes aside, I see people go "I think I'm trans but I'm not gonna address it because of all the difficult stuff, what would I get out of it?" And the answer is true joy. That's what you get out of it. Unless you face yourself, fully and completely, and know who you are, you will never find true joy.
