I saw Gloria Steinem speak in Sydney in 2015. It was the peak of a dumb social media trend of young women filming themselves saying “l’m not a feminist”. “What do we tell them?” someone in the audience asked. “Life will take care of it,” Gloria responded. I think about this probably once a week.

This is racism, straight out of the Trump playbook. Reform are trying to turn our great country into a franchise of Trump's America. There are countless British patriots who came here from overseas, many of them refugees we proudly welcomed. That's the kind of country we are.

Great letter in The Yorkshire Post from Peter Packham @leedseurope.bsky.social. 'The Brexit elite didn't "take back control" of our borders; they undermined our ability to manage them and incentivised criminal gangs behind the trafficking of desperate, vulnerable migrants.'

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invested €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear— it WASTES public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT @modacitylife.com

I have written to the Cabinet Secretary to seek assurances that the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, who was lobbying for the privatised water industry until recently, has had no involvement in talks about the future of Thames Water.
First we had divorced parent Richard Tice saying that couples with children should be married. Now we've got divorced parent Matt Goodwin saying Reform will prioritise married couples with children. Who's up to mansplain marriage next? Henry the 8th?

Nigel Farage triggered a £300,000 by-election while facing scrutiny over his finances. Taxpayers shouldn’t foot the bill for a political tantrum. Our “Clacton Clause” would stop MPs under investigation triggering by-elections to escape scrutiny. @lisasmartmp.bsky.social

Farage's by-election stunt wasted enough public money to pay for free dental care for every child in his constituency. Does he care? No. He just wanted to avoid legitimate parliamentary scrutiny of his dodgy bungs. Which he won't. It'll start again immediately. What a cock.
We don't inherit the soil from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.

Just overheard in airport security: "Oi Paul - look! It's another bloody colander!" My work is done.
Going on holiday with your colander? Perfectly normal behaviour! #eclipse #UnimpressedCat
One of THE most important by-elections I can remember (and I have followed quite a few in my lifetime). Come on #Clacton, you know what to do.
Okay Clacton. Let’s go.
