it’s actually nuts how good the value is here. A good example is Brad Tabke who won in 2024 by 15 votes, resulting in the MN state house being *tied* He raised a total of $81K last election cycle. A few hundred bucks probably made the difference & decided the control of the legislature!
Awful: The local press in Maine is crediting Susan Collins for getting Trump to agree to ICE bodycams nationwide. It's cynical BS: She voted for $70 billion in ICE money and against requiring bodycams. But this kind of thing is why she could still win. New from me: newrepublic.com/article/2138...

Yes. This isn't always what people want to hear, but the easiest way to get involved almost immediately in-person with social change is: 1) Offer to volunteer with your city/town/county political party. 2) Join a local religious congregation with a significant mission/justice program.

Last year, it only took five of us showing up and making public comment at a city council meeting to get the council to restore library funding that the mayor’s office had cut. Just a few people showing up can make a huge difference.

Artemis II happening while Trump threatens to annihilate a civilization is a stark demonstration that the United States government is neither good nor bad, it is *powerful*, and power can be wielded for good or bad ends in smart or dumb ways. It's our job to push hard in the right direction.
It would take only a handful of Republicans to step onto the right side of history and stop this madness. They would be remembered well. It's right there for the taking.
I used to write the WaPo editorials on US-Africa policy, as well on as human rights and politics on the continent. To describe hundreds of thousands of deaths on the continent as “messy” is an absolute abomination.

It's impolite to call Musk a genocidal white nationalist because "civility" in American discourse functions not as a neutral procedural norm but as an asymmetric weapon to shield the powerful from accurate moral characterization while policing the tone of those who object.
