What a page turner, or whatever the millennial humans would call this. This essay was impeccable in its honesty and vulnerability. I'm sure it was a challenge to remove the dopamine inducing snark, but this essay stands as a unique snark-light view into...well a window of our online/offline worlds.

The @rothenberglab.bsky.social, led by Assistant Professor of Biology @krothphd.bsky.social, studies cell adhesion & collective migration from the molecular to the tissue scale using Drosophila embryos & human cell lines. Learn more about the lab’s work & its members here: rothenberg.lab.uiowa.edu

How long do polarity proteins and their partners survive as a neuron prepares to migrate? Liam Hallada has answers today at the Neural Development GRC poster 13. Using a HaloTag pulse-chase imaging strategy he maps protein stability with spatial resolution in and around cell adhesions!

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

Dr. Lucky Tran@luckytran.com · 6d ago

People still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

So the US Secretary of Health and Human Services just claimed not only COVID-19 but 'many other global pandemics' started from gain-of-function research, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) outbreaks and Lyme disease. This is deeply irresponsible. There is not a shred of evidence for this.

😳 RFK Jr's epic CNN crashout 😳 Dana Bash pressed RFK Jr on Trump's culpability for mishandling covid and the misinformation he pushes about vaccines, and the segment wound down with him getting mad and barking at her like a rabid dog Here's the full thing:

4/4 So now my undergrad methods syllabus has 2 weeks on how to use Excel. We start from the ground floor ("This is a cell. This is a row. This is a column.) Students LOVE getting this material. More than a few get visibly mad in class that no one had ever taught them this stuff before.

I received a very nice and inspiring letter from the Dean of Science for teaching (Plant Development in Spring 2026 semester). Among all the tasks, I always felt least confident in teaching. The teaching evaluation and this letter were helpful for me to be confident. I will keep doing my BEST!

Excited PI brag: postdoc Katie Ching just received the NOA for her K99/R00! She's talking at FASEB Cilia & Centrosomes meeting! "Investigating how mechanical force causes cilia to shed extracellular vesicles." Thanks to NIH POs, SROs, staff, study sections, taxpayers for investing in the future!
