Currently hanging my hat in NI.

This is Robert Jenrick August 2025, after the Ozempic but before he joined Reform UK. He posted this on X-Twitter "Raise The Colours! 🇬🇧 While Britain-hating councils take down our own flags, we raise them up. We must be one country, under the Union Flag" But was Newark flaggers. archive.ph/S5XND

Tory frontbencher Robert Jenrick flies Union Jacks from lamp-posts

The Shadow Justice Secretary said local authorities which failed to back displays of the flag were guilty of 'pathetic disdain for Britain and its values'.

If you’re wondering why UK press has suddenly woken up to Farage, please read this. It’s because: Brexit. The r/w press refused to scrutinise the money behind Farage & the lawsuit against me scared off the rest. But this isn’t a new scandal. It’s the same one I’ve been reporting on for a decade

NEW: Who funds Nigel Farage? And why has it taken till now for any journalistic scrutiny? @carolecadwalla.bsky.social who has tracked him for a decade exposes how the UK press & regulators looked the other way 🧵👇

Little considered impact of Factory Farming of animals - it’s a massive drain for water, this factory farm uses the same amount of water per week as 14,000 people (a small town) - and complained during a hosepipe ban, that it couldn’t process chickens - by which it means slaughter them.

Binface is a fraud. Positions himself as a comedy candidate not expecting to be elected, but then comes up with stuff like this. Come on, Clacton, make sure he faces the consequences of his actions: vote Binface and make him be an actual MP! bsky.app/profile/coun... /s (because there's always one)

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

How do we get Trump back on board? Got it! Israel recently shared intelligence with the US indicating Iran may be considering a new plan to assassinate President Trump, the WSJ reports.

FACTCHECK: A guide to manufacturing headlines, by the Times 1) highlight upfront costs of an “eco” home (EV, heat pump, solar) 2) pretend that petrol cars and gas boilers are free (yes really) 3) count upfront “eco” costs twice, for good measure 4) that’s it!

For no particular reason, obviously, this weekend I found myself remembering all those allegations about mysterious dark money funding untraceable Facebook ads during the Brexit campaign.

hi hello modern slavery expert here 👋👋 requiring asylum and refugee seekers to pay back support is precisely how traffickers keep victims in debt bondage. this exposes people to even greater re-trafficking risks. is the uk government trying to stop trafficking or learn from criminals?

The absolute dead giveaway that you're dealing with a third rate economic mind is if they elevate policy towards North Sea licences towards the top of their agenda. On either side of the question. It shows they're incapable of doing basic calculations of significance.

It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23

Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

It is inescapable now that many politicians & most of our media judge the severity & seriousness of a crime differently according to the ethnicity of the perpetrator and/or victim. An utterly hideous state of affairs ushered in eagerly by Nigel Farage & Elon Musk. It is very easy to do better.

Comparing coverage of the Belfast and Edinburgh attacks, it seems that if politicians politicise and racialise a crime, then it will get far more attention than a crime that is in itself political and racist but doesn’t serve a political agenda. That’s not a good message

The reluctance among media outlets to specify that these pogroms are the work of far-right loyalist thugs is particularly weird, given that they sign their work! The LVF spray tags on the houses of the people they burn out, whether Catholics, migrants or refugees. They've done this for decades!

Per most recent figures, net migration to NI *over the past 22 years* has been ~62,000 people. Only 3% of Northern Ireland’s population currently belong to an ethnic minority. Pogroms in Belfast (as with Ballymena last year) are just gutter-level "One Is One Too Many" racism, and nothing else.

The issue here is that loyalist terror networks have always had tight relationships with the Far Right in England, Scotland and Wales. After the riots in Southport there are risks that these neo-Fascist networks in England in particular view loyalist terror structures as a source of inspiration

English commentators need to stop analysing Northern Ireland through an English lens! When you see anti-immigrant riots in Belfast, Ballymena or Larne and immediately reach for "Britain's far-right problem", you're missing half the story. This isn't just racism. It's loyalist terrorism. 1/
