Yeah, for us well read as Isaiah is, he clearly has never had to do canvassing. I have had someone say *to my face* that they don't care if restrictions on reproductive healthcare kill my partner who can't safely carry to term because "what about the price of milk"

Daniel Gilmore@gilmored85.bsky.social · 7h ago

We had a president that made several very good and important speeches about rhe importance of democratic institutions and maintaining our relationships and news media belittled him and voters ignored it. Like, this feels like a big "is vs ought" issue

See, Isaiah is both correct, and misses the point that we are 72 days until the midterms, in which being able to fix this will hang on the opinions of 72,000 of the most fickle humans alive. 600 million of us care, 60 million literally hate the concept of morality, and we're trying to

Isaiah Bishop posting "your average American voter doesn't care about that" FOR ONCE THIS ISN'T JUST ABOUT THE AMERICAN VOTER, IT'S ABOUT MAINTAINING LONG RUN INSTITUTIONS IN DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS. YOU CAN DO BOTH

here is the thing. if you tell me that you believe that race is a biological category and that it is a guide to the objective superiority and inferiority of groups of people, i am not calling you a racist to *insult* you, i am calling you a racist because it best describes your beliefs.

Aparna Nair@disabilitystor1.bsky.social · yesterday

not only that, they are demanding that they not be called racist when they are observed to be signing up to support the racist

sometimes I think about how the daily horrors of the Trump administration could have been stopped almost entirely if Scalia simply died 14 months earlier and RBG died 4 months later out fascist-enabling Supreme Court is a historical accident. this all could have been avoided.

My favorite part of boomers trying to appeal to gen Z/alpha is how much they fail to understand what appeals about certain kinds of influencers, and thus think that a pretty person dancing nondescriptly is going to do anything for anyone's opinion about a political candidate or a Disney attraction.

y’all need to see the latest Bruce Blakeman campaign video. I am dying lmao i cannot believe this is real, Hochul is gonna win by 20

official & enacted policy of USA is white supremacist pogrom of ethnic cleansing being carried out by secret police who are running a network of concentration camps & literally murdering people in the streets in broad daylight. This is done in your name. My name. Until we make it stop.

David Faris@davidfaris.bsky.social · 5d ago

It's unconscionable to treat people who were here legally literally yesterday like this. It's not just that it's morally bankrupt to rescind the TPS order. It's fucking shameful to bait and switch other human beings who came here for refuge and have done nothing wrong other than existing.

As somebody who has worked a field program or 6 does she not have a list of the local Republican committee members for staff to call through? Like, I was able to get like 120 people in a room on like 4 days of notice for a congressional primary, how is a sitting senator doing worse?

Susan Collins pulls into town in a bus full of her supporters; then they all get off the bus; and then she addresses the folks who were on the bus with her as if they were regular Mainers; and legacy media covers this, pretending it isn't deeply bizarre. (Notice the guys with cameras.) #MEpolitics

I know that there's levels to this shit, but I feel like if someone's family are low-level millionaires they definitely count as rich kids, and those people absolutely use Bonne Maman and other products in that price/quality bracket. Source: I dated a girl with a >$1,000,000 trust fund in college.

Snowden St.@snowden.st · last wk.

Saw someone refer to Bonne Maman jelly as something for rich kids, and I need folks to update their stereotypes and understanding of the shelf price situation. Bonne Maman isn’t rich, it’s midgrade now.

I think that it's funny how when I was in college people were talking about how Cape shit was going to die one day due to oversaturation, and while there is a bit of oversaturation, it seems like the main issue that actually cropped up is that studios have decided they don't even want to try anymore

These are people who legally entered this country and now, because of ancestry and a conspiracy theory pushed by an aspiring politician, are being pursued by the government and fitted with special monitoring devices. This should remind of the darkest events in history.

Indiscriminately putting ankle monitors on an entire nationality, thousands upon thousands of people living in a small community, all of whom were living here entirely legally until a few days ago when you revoked their legal status. It’s an authoritarian nightmare.

So much discourse is trying to parse some hidden (and more rational) meaning when these are people who very openly say what they mean. In part because it feels unsophisticated for professional take-havers to just say, for example, "Elon Musk is a white supremacist." But it is actually that simple.

Alan Elrod@aselrod.bsky.social · last wk.

Really glad @polphilpod.bsky.social is making this argument at length at @liberalcurrents.com The fascists really do believe what they say. That’s part of what makes them so dangerous. www.liberalcurrents.com/fascists-rea...

Imagine you think-as Elon Musk clearly does-that all of human civilization is dependent on maintaining pure-blooded white people as a significant portion of the world's population, and keeping them in charge of, and the overwhelming majority within, its most powerful states. What political agenda would follow from that?
Well, if that were true, then a demographic purge of those states would be desirable. Ethnic cleansing of that scale
is not possible with our existing political systems, so those systems would need to be done away with.

American military hegemony burning itself to the grown under a despotic manchild and none of the very serious national security people can seem to work up the same white hot anger about it they showed when Biden made them finally admit to their 20 year fuckup in Afghanistan.

This is absolutely ridiculous. For all its potential pitfalls, the Ford aircraft carriers are built entirely around the EMALS system, and "replacing" it with steam catapults - which require large amounts of space and personnel - is simply not a realistic option. www.wsj.com/us-news/trum...

Look, The New York Times can't report on *everything* Yes, yes, this Republican congressman urged a military-backed coup to overthrow an election. But did you know that a gubernatorial candidate said she didn't like Thanksgiving? You can't cover it all. It's all about priorities, people.

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social · last wk.

Rep. Ralph Norman, who’s in a Senate runoff with Lindsey Graham’s sister Darline, secretly urged a military-backed coup in 2021 to keep Trump in power. But the NY Times thinks it’s no big deal. In its last 92 stories mentioning Norman over 3 years and 7 months, it hasn’t stated that fact once. 1/7🧵
