Throw a little tantrum when I read a story and someone in the story is getting hurt?? Like I understand that conflict is necessary to tell an interesting story, and seeing people have dramatic reactions to fictional characters being in peril makes me feel very very uncomfortable

I never feel bad for fictional characters in stories because I understand they are tools used to express a narrative. I'm interested in story structure, character development, and parallels. I get that it can be like woah that's a brutal death that would suck in real life but it never makes me like,

Apropos this, I just want to put it on the table that almost all of these flips that happen tonight are largely result of years of work on the ground by Black & (in Texas) Hispanic community organizers and voters. They didn't just happen.

Whenever these anti-trans bigots bemoan some trans boys having top surgery, they insist on misgendering them. To me, it's always an effort to erase trans boys and men entirely. From the bottom of my trans soul: Fuck these bigots.

To continue on this: if a story where a woman dressed as a man and went back to being a feminine heterosexual woman happened once or twice in fiction that would be one thing. When this narrative becomes a MAJOR CULTURAL TOUCHSTONE it is not a story, it is the culture telling you something abt itself

If the woman posing as a man winds up feminized and married to a man at the end that's a reassuring/comforting story for cis people where the natural order reasserts itself in time. It is not a transmasculine story, it's an anti-transmasculine story.
