HI YOURE NEVER GOING TO BELIEVE WHAT I JUST LOST UNDER THE COUCH
Having my birthday happen to be the same day as the neighborhood block party was pretty cool, actually. Brought a cake, got wished a happy birthday by people I've never met before.
Hey Minneapolis. Can someone explain it to me like I’m an idiot: why is MPD allowed to just spend money they don’t have and then say “we’re over budget.” And there’s never any questions that the city has to pay?
i keep forgetting is bisexual twice a sex, or once every other sex?
My answer to my conservative father's annual text to me may not have been what he hoped for.
Doesn't make it any better. Or less of a lie. Or less cowardly.

"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.
President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v
It’s a misdemeanor, so he likely won’t face incarce… … … …ration. (band hit)
in insane local news, the 26 year old director of a rocky horror production was arrested for sending threatening messages to himself in order to get the play shut down bc he didn’t want to deal with cast drama www.mynbc5.com/article/rock...
Happy birthday to me. I never thought I'd make it to 50. Between my near-death experiences and mental health struggles, it still seems almost impossible.
Can I point out that the "anti-establishment" dems the DNC is freaking about are... *checks notes* ...working to better their constituents' lives through civic action. The anti-establishment position is to literally do things voters want. IN THE DEMS. Check yourself, DNC.
I used to think it was crazy that each Flock camera costs taxpayers $2,500/month! But now it all makes sense. These are valuable objects that may contain up to 2-3 lbs of copper and 1-2 grams of gold.
chat can anyone verify that every single Flock camera has about 2-3 Ibs of copper and about 1-2 grams of gold
Maddow asked #JamesTalarico about attacks on #trans people and those who think that to win, Dems must "moderate" on trans rights. Talarico answered, "I don't believe we win by selling people out." #Texas
Bluesky oldheads will remember that brief period of time when the conservative trolls tried to storm the place and were flummoxed by the idea they would have to organically grow an audience and that someone who didn't want to talk to them could nuke every interaction they ever had from orbit
I have, with my own eyes, watched my tax dollars in the form of missiles as they hit buildings inhabited by civilians. I'd much prefer subsidizing a grocery story I don't use.
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
It isn't the most significant event, perhaps, but I find Fletcher's decision to calmly pass command of the battle to Spruance after Yorktown was crippled at Midway one of those tests of character a great many commanders fail, which he passed.
here's a hot take for US carrier commanders in WW2 Spruance > Fletcher > Halsey
I'm coming up on my 50th birthday and 15th anniversary of my brother's death two days after. It's weird, having a day that culturally is meant to be a time to celebrate my life be so intertwined with the deep grief I still feel for him. 🧵
Not the most important concern, but that James Carville keeps getting trotted out and used in fundraising emails is maybe the best example of "stuck in the 90s" thinking

There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.
Every so often, I trot out my deep barritone voice to fuck with a friend who hasn't heard it before (or in a long time) and, ngl, the reactions are usually glorious. Today it was my gamers/improvisors, and they thought they'd heard my deep voice as an NPC voice before but....no. No, they hadn't.
I've only seen most of TOS from the cut down, syndicated episodes. The uncut episodes often have pacing problems, but there's also some really interesting scenes I've never seen before.
my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop
In the twin cities, the mafia was involved, too!
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
