Someone said to me yesterday that I should, as a feminist, feel bad that they are “bringing this woman down” and my guy it is not the task of feminism to come to the aid of a fascist enabler who is a woman

The first time I interviewed in libraries, they wanted to know about my experience dealing with difficult customers. I said, “Well, I worked at Disneyland”, and the interviewer literally said “say no more”. I had a burger thrown at me, got punched twice, was spat on, grabbed…little flaps me now.

There is an incredibly powerful differentiator for almost all people, and that differentiator is “have you ever been on the side of getting yelled AT in a public-facing job, or were you only ever the one doing the yelling?”

Some of the richest people in the world want a racial caste system, and they want scholarly backing for that in the form of racist pseudoscience. And a lot of ostensibly non racist people quietly agree, and don’t like to see those who peddle that pseudoscience excluded from mainstream institutions.

say what you will about the myriad valid concerns with current LLMs but I personally will never get over the fact that Aaron Swartz was prosecuted to his literal death for downloading JSTOR and then a decade later, they downloaded & ingested the entire world and our IP laws just went ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Academic freedom does not extend to racist pseudoscience any more that it extends to peddling any other woo-woo. If you use your academic platform to suggest black people are inferior, you should lose your job as an academic. Just as much as if you use it to claim the Sun revolves around the Earth.

This NYT piece that fighting back against Trump’s abuses is hurting Harvard carries the same whiff as the slew of stories that Harvard was on the verge of surrendering. Trying to will it into being. Wouldn’t be surprising if a source is someone trying to get Harvard to fold, such as Bill Ackman.

Just walked past this. Why would I want to hire people to carefully move my stuff if they can’t be bothered to make sure that their company name “In and Out Movers” is not accidentally rendered as “In Nut” on their logo?

even not that long ago. A whole new wave of feminism since 2013 or so got rid of a lot of the victim-blaming and myths about rape and other forms of violence against women and created the receptivity that led to #metoo and the treatment of this stuff as public concerns rather than "private matters,"

Millions of people have now heard of Natalie Harp who wouldn't have if the right wing hadn't gone completely nuts about Jon Ossoff saying simply that Trump likes traveling, just traveling, with her.
