i got mugged at shotgun point. the cops arrested the wrong guy, hustled me out of court at the hearing when i said ”that’s not the guy,” told me “you didn’t see him,” made me do a lineup at the prison and when i said “that’s the guy i saw in court, still not him” told me “it’s OK, he’s a bad person”
It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.
I was just thinking while watching Spiderman: Brand New Day, how Tom Holland is to Spiderman as Daniel Craig was to James Bond for me. Gonna miss him in a very specific way, even as he goes on to other wonderful projects and roles.
Rewatching the Holland Spidey movies ahead of seeing the new one tomorrow, and Homecoming was so much better than I remembered. Really great debut film, and Holland feels like an actual teenager
"I think we live in a world where the concept of xenia, the concept of mutual respect, is more challenged than it's ever been, in more obvious ways than ever. I think we see the negative effects of that in terms of what defines civilization and what binds us together."
saving this for later but a lot of people are bringing this up as a good example of academia engaging with the arts youtu.be/wa4I8Ch2TRo?...
"I write to urge you to impose a AI-moratorium in NYC's schools. At stake are not only the cognitive + emotional health of NYC's children but also— • Labor + economic conditions for educators • Climate + struggles for energy justice • Widening of the political + economic power-gap b/t rich + poor."
Hey, friends! I put my big face in a video like the kids do! Time to join the @aimoratoriumnyc.bsky.social and tell @mayor.nyc.gov to enact a moratorium on "A.i." in the schools! Please share - and please tell the mayor you want a moratorium! www.nyc.gov/mayors-offic...
Watching this unprecedented summer of drought, fire and heat unfold across Europe has just been awful. They're hitting temps the older, less catastrophic climate models told them wouldn't happen until 2050. We're in a new era.
Firefighters have contained a vast wildfire in southwestern France, allowing nearly 200,000 people to return home after what may have been the country’s largest peacetime evacuation.

Weather in NYC after the climate Armageddon that was the last week or so feels like a miracle. Breathing while outside… not something to be taken for granted in this timeline apparently.
Personal hw to do but not-Google is a great selling pt
Just to add to this, if interested, I have been shifting all my stuff from Google Drive and Gmail to the Swiss company Infomaniak, the best independent alternative to the Web giants: www.infomaniak.com/en
Sucker for those marks reporting here, gotta dust off my copy of Violet

The grand piano rock has to be one of the funniest ones yet 🤭
I once asked a priest to bless a printer that I was in the middle of fighting with and he went "I only bless things when there's a chance it'll take" and then turned and walked out of the room.
I am tech support to the bone and do not like to mystify computer stuff but I genuinely believe in my heart of hearts that printers have demons in them. There is literally no other explanation.
Just...stop making pervert glasses maybe?
You can clip a cover over the cameras, which could be a double-edged sword.
This year's anniversary artwork has been released! This piece celebrating Pokémon GO's 10th anniversary is drawn by Yusuke Kozaki.
So we’re now the only North American country without universal healthcare? I don’t have enough breath in my body to sigh the sigh I need to sigh rn.
This is Nala. She thought your face had disappeared. Turns out it was behind your hands the whole time. Incredible. 12/10 (IG: goldennala27)

"As God as my witness, when I turn 13 and get my lawn mowing business going I'm never letting my Mom cut my hair again!"
"Notes from the Last Row" just blew the doors off what I thought was Choi Hyun-wook's range. But ofc he wouldn't have shone as brightly if he had acted opposite of any less of a titan than Choi Min-sik. Both were pitch perfect from start to finish and their chemistry full-on riffs.
Supergirl was a fun popcorn movie but I also went into it with no expectations and not having seen the trailer. And I walked away excited about Clayface- the trailer really leaned into horror vibes and I hope the actual movie does the same.
The Widow's Bay-shaped crater left by the season finale led me to (finally!) check out Castle Rock. S1 feels like a more sinister Widow's Bay and I'm certainly enjoying it but on the large, the absence of Patricia is deeply felt.
I find that tone is often the missing essential ingredient in most streaming series + films, but Katie Dippold knew exactly where she was going with WIDOW'S BAY the whole time + that finale absolutely proved it. Cannot wait to see how much spOoOoOOOookier season two gets!
