She/her. Everything I write ends up being about cyborg lesbians because I keep being obsessed with the intersections of identity, gender, and the physical form. Also I'm v gay

Heard someone suggest a reason that kids drink and do drugs less these days is because so many more are properly medicated for Adhd and autism and it's been stuck in my head since

alan moore got really angry about the adaptation of v for vendetta (shocker!) because he felt it no longer reflected the specific way british fascism felt and would feel and was a more generic, american thing and i didn’t quite get his point in 2006 but i very much get it now.

of course the bbc does some transphobic bullshit just as i'm trying to make the point that it's not really reasonable to get into a "who's more recidivist on progressivism" fight between the us and europe

“I think that it would be better if the people who want to kill everyone I’ve ever loved and everyone they’ve ever loved just because we’re transsexuals didn’t exist cause then they wouldn’t hurt us” Bsky moderation: 😧 you think someone shouldn’t exist?! Banned

I'm close to finishing a new project! Taking a wild punt into unexplored territory, I've made a hybrid of solo journaling game and narrative wargame. This being me, it involves intoxicants, zombies, and nuns. So allow me to introduce In The Scarlet Cloister.

The more often a person sincerely uses the phrase "update your priors" the more certain you can be that they attended an Aella sex party organized by a millenarian sex cult based on Harry Potter fanfic

This has been on my feed all day so I'm going to give it as fair as treatment as I can. Prof. Wolfers is well meaning & I get the intuition, but he's speaking outside his area of expertise and he's just wrong. Having lunch with someone you disagree with isn't going to "cure ideological bias." 🧵

The best cure for ideological bias is find someone on the other side and go to lunch with them.⁣ ⁣ Sometimes we disagree about facts. Sometimes we disagree about values. Figuring out which is which is fun part. https://newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/my-libertarian-friends-were-right

It honeslty just shows me how much rape culture exists. With James Somerton, we all collectively agreed he didn’t deserve a platform anymore, and he disappeared. I’m sure he’s got some job somewhere, living a life. But an admitted rapist, well, he we must forgive, because some of us liked his stuff.

Relevant to current events though not exclusively applicable to them, but I'm really sick of how any time a public figure is outed for doing some heinous shit, people talk about their ability to have a large public platform as if it is one and the same as restorative justice or rehabilitation.

somewhere on the internet is someone with an opinion so bad it will kill you unless you, much like mithridates, build up a tolerance by reading every opinion that makes your blood boil. especially when it is presented as fact

Discoverability for new SFF books seems way down these days, especially outside of bestsellers and certain subgenres. I'm noticing this as both a reader and a writer. Great stuff is in danger of sinking without a trace. Please post about new/recent books you love or are excited for!!! I'll start:

Most of the people you love won’t read it. It’s not personal, but it will hurt anyway. Be nice to you. The best skill you can cultivate is knowing when to defer to someone or something else. Not every story is yours to tell. It’s not censorious. It’s GOOD.

A lot of writing advice comes from a world that no longer exists, from white abled men who have had an agent, who think they’re God’s gift to the written word. A lot of writing advice is straight up ableist. You will be asked to compare your work and your authorial voice to established writers—
