#SDCC comic con: our daughter left her 3D printed black dragon in the restroom near E/Starbucks. She printed it herself and is devastated. We checked the restroom and lost and found which means someone picked it up. If you bring it to 5552 I will give you a signed comic as reward

While the feds continue to play stupid games, SNAP recipients are set to lose food aid for the next month. In the Bay Area, a growing number of restaurants are stepping up to help, and we're maintaining the list. Share with anyone who needs it. www.coyotemedia.org/these-bay-ar...
Val and I checked repeatedly because we simply couldn't believe no national or local news organizations covered this letter from 18 AGs in support of trans youth care and against FTC overreach. If you find any stories, let us know, but it seems to be our exclusive.
On Friday 18 blue state attorneys general BLASTED the Federal Trade Commission, telling it to back off trans youth healthcare and warning of an insidious attempt to reshape the regulation of medicine in the US. And nobody covered it. www.assignedmedia.org/breaking-new...
HHS has also announced in a statement that public health insurance programs, including Medicare, Medicaid and Vaccines for Children, will cover the Covid shots. That and more in my newly updated explainer:
Can You Still Get the Covid Shot?

Assuming CDC formally adopts ACIP's recommendations, CVS tells me it will provide Covid vaccines without a prescription in all 50 states and won't require even self-attestation of a qualifying condition — "it’s up to the individual patient." No confirmation from Walgreens or Walmart yet.
I have reached out to CVS, Walgreens and Walmart to ask how they will apply these recommendations to people seeking vaccines at their pharmacies. I cannot provide any info on how this will affect your ability to get a vaccine right now, because I don't know yet.
NEW: RFK Jr.'s HHS has committed to prioritizing Long COVID, but it's unclear if the agency will dedicate new funding to research and supports. @mileswgriffis.bsky.social and I recap what we learned at today's roundtable event for @thesicktimes.org: thesicktimes.org/2025/09/18/k...

AI companies in general and OpenAI in particular are part of an authoritarian project to centralize power. That's actually how I would define AI tools: not by their tech stack, but by their political goals. @ali-alkhatib.com wrote a great piece about this and I cosign 100%

I am lightly horrified by how many people have now looked up their books and found out their publishers (who often were required contractually!!!!) just... didn't register the copyrights on books. Not all of them! Just sporadically! This is not just one publisher, I've seen all the big ones now.

When scientists say things like, "opening a window lowers the risk of transmission by 38%", where do they get these numbers? Well, they use airborne transmission models. In my latest explainer video I walk through the history of these models, what they do, and what the don't.
I'll say it again, as this is ramping up: if you gave access to the archives of goverment data and information, it is your moral responsibility to make sure that untouched versions get preserved, now. The Trump administration has announced that the US will rewrite past climate reports, in a clear attempt to erase scientific history and undermine the consensus on human-caused climate change.

🗣 I'm reposting this for folks who missed it. *Please* read this new intro.❗️ Too often, when resources become limited, many people's 1st impulse is to ask themselves how to game the situation; how to dodge the restrictions that others are forced to live with. I saw it when covid vaccines... 🧵1/6
I was asked what concrete steps folks can take to ensure access to covid vax for their familes. Below is a thread of actions you may wish to take. I would coordinate with like-minded others in your state (on 🦋 or thru. Facebook "still coviding" groups) as much as possible. We need collective action.
