not everything where people agree is an echo chamber. Sometimes it's *consensus* based on *observation* and *listening*. Gravitation is not an echo chamber. Evolution is not an echo chamber. Rejecting "AI" and its fascist promoters is WISDOM.

what's funny about this is that monks were perfectly delighted with the printing press, the myth that the late medieval church resisted printing is false, you can actually embellish printed books and people did, illuminators and scribes are not the same people, and simon should read more.

Academic BlueSky is becoming an echo chamber about AI. Like a monastery chuckling about how the printing press can’t embellish a letter with gold leaf.

Type of guy who wants a completely planned economy but also constantly disparages spreadsheet people is an amazingly common type of guy on the Internet. Who exactly do you think is going to be planning your socialist economy.

What gets me about these sorts of incidents is that they illustrate how many people are using AI for COMPLETELY USELESS purposes. There are already a million US maps and periodic tables! You can get them anywhere! What conceivable reason is there to have an LLM make one? It doesn't even save effort!

'Venecky' instead of Kentucky: JCPS middle school parents suspect school agendas are AI-generated

A Farnsley Middle School parent found bizarre errors in student agendas, prompting JCPS to warn families.

It's obvious that so many of these people have unwittingly swallowed the Republican "real American"/"real man"/"real job" framing and have a lot of internalized shame about being part of the educated elite knowledge worker class. Knowledge workers are good! Have some pride, man!

unironically using “spreadsheet people” as an insult during a massive anti-intellectual demolition of government capacity to manage society is really a statement about your approval of it

Don’t get me wrong, this isn‘t Jon‘s fault, good on him for finding an attack that works. But it’s so incredibly bleak that this is a more effective line of attack than Epstein and Iran simply because the media gets bored easily and always needs a new shiny toy to get their attention.

Jon Ossoff tells Lawrence O’Donnell: “It’s been amazing to watch this White House melt down over this all week. And about Natalie Harp, these White House staffers are adults — public officials, paid by the taxpayer, with immense power in positions of public trust… No one cares about their feelings.”

Yeah, there's a lot of debt but what matters is the fact that they have eroded the fiscal space via political actions and have shown they have no plan to actually deal with fundamental real economic - i.e. capital stock -- rather than monetary problems.
