here's an idea for a premise: the muppet show
There are currently no active conversations for a full ‘MUPPET SHOW’ series revival. Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on. (Source: Deadline)
Melrose might be on my color guy/analyst Mount Rushmore. Always entertaining and old-school without being annoying about it. RIP.

Well,
As murder rates plummet to a 20-year low, why are so many American cities still grappling with disorder? In @themimsshow.bsky.social, Carine Hajjar sits down with Heather Mac Donald to explore “teen takeovers,” pushback against progressive prosecutors and more.
Really rare to spot something like this in the wild, but The Wall Street Journal ran a "Supreme Court Expansion Is Secretly Unconstitutional Actually" column that directly refutes its thesis in the paragraph that immediately follows. Beautiful stuff. www.wsj.com/opinion/is-c...
The progression of certain thinkers from denying the validity of trans people to denying the validity of disabilities is a nice illustration of the way in which transphobic habits of mind can quickly evolve into a kind of acquired sociopathy.

i'm prepared to raise the alarm. this is now a certified Woke 2 Incident
The Cardinals, in response to home-plate umpire Doug Eddings telling rookie Hancel Rincon to fix his hat last night, all wore tipped caps in their dugout tonight. The Rockies did, as well, after Eddings claimed Hunter Goodman asked for Rincon to fix his hat, something Goodman strongly denied.
not lost on a lot of us that someone got ejected from a game because of a hat that wasn’t violating any MLB rules while multiple Giants earlier this year did violate written MLB rules pertaining to uniforms and were allowed to stay in the game (and received zero discipline from the league later)
Good summary and clip of what happened in the 6th inning of last night's Cardinals Rockies game
I’m tickled by Oberlin football getting more coverage in the New Yorker than on any sports site. Feels very Obie!
For @newyorker.com, I wrote about Oberlin football. Or, more accurately, I wrote about Oberlin and football, a student newspaper scrap — and how the sport is a reflection of wherever it exists, no exceptions: www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
I love the dedication in My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinhem
Here's what I've decided—Mr Knightley is imaginary, and his imaginary age will be 26. Sorry Jane Austen, but you were incorrect about Canonically Sexy Colonel Fitzwilliam, and you are incorrect about Knightley's age. He is now 26 (for the purposes of this read/thread). *refiles the manila folder*
I was worried about @trungles.com going with Emma next, but I should have had more faith (see next repost)
So Emma Woodhouse is a pretty girl who is pretty smart, pretty rich, and pretty much has no problems whatsoever. We’re off to a roaring start.
In a functioning democracy, the public would be alarmed if the president boasted that he was “able to break the court system a little bit."
Q: “Last month DHS recorded a record number of deportations. What changed to make that possible?” Trump: “We just were able to break the court system a little bit. We had judges that were very hostile.”
We have so much to thank Canada for - maple syrup - moose - hockey things - Insulin - the pacemaker - basketball - Pvt John A Huff of Ontario, who as a member of the 5th Michigan Cavalry Regiment shot and killed Confederate General JEB Stuart at Yellow Tavern on May 11, 1864
okay! Kendra asked for some suggestions here, and I'm going to offer something like a Litany of the Saints for all your "dear God, please let It™️ happen soon" prayer intentions there's no one immediate obvious candidate, but an "Avengers, assemble" approach to these folks might be worth trying:
If I buy a Luigi prayer candle, bless it with holy water, stick a rosary bead at its base and use it to pray to free the US and the world from tyranny... do you think the reaper would get the message?
Rarely does one get so perfect a chance and I wasn’t gonna let my boy miss it
Ted didn’t notice the name of the account who posted this Dolly clip he retweeted until it was much too late. He finally deleted it after he was made aware.
I really cannot think of a greater honor than to have the Muppets say this about you upon your passing
Republicans have spent the last year trying to defund Dolly Parton
like the reason Dolly feels like an exceptional human being is because all the things we're talking about today in her lifetime of philanthropy trace back to just .... having empathy and we live in the era of "I Don't Know How to Explain to You That You Should Care About Other People"
the thing is like public health child literacy civil rights social justice rural poverty once you personally have become rich and successful, those things only matter if you still have the capacity to care deeply about people outside your immediate circle and that is harder than becoming rich
The story of Dolly giving Brigette Bandit a guitar is so cool: www.kxan.com/news/local/a...
Dolly Parton sends signed, bejeweled guitar to Austin drag performer Brigitte Bandit
The year ended on a high note for one local performer after unwrapping a gift sent from one queen to another.

Texas’s drag ban was found to be unconstitutional this morning and one of the plaintiffs who brought the suit was an Austin-based drag queen who often impersonates Dolly Dolly was named in the final judgement itself and after hearing about the lawsuit, she sent that drag queen a signed guitar
We’re not in the habit of recognizing celebrity deaths here at 925. That said, Dolly Parton is a national treasure and some folks here joke that Dolly is our Locals patron saint. After all her song “9 to 5” is our anthem. Today we remember all the love and kindness Dolly brought the world.
In my family, there is an adage that when evil people refuse to die, it's because God doesn't want 'em and the devil's afraid of 'em.
