I think one of the bigger reasons Things Are Bad Now is bc, prior to social media, you had distinct generational social spaces & they didnt intersect much but now boundaryless social media means older ppl are constantly around younger ppl & its driving a lot of them insane—either from rage or envy

The "hydration break" really is a perfect American capitalist innovation: a nakedly commercial play to insert more ad revenue into a game that doesn't have ads anywhere else in the world, all under the guise of some humanitarian interest in the players' wellbeing.
Giving him a platform to spread his propaganda or nonsense (whatever you think is causing him to say these things) at this stage of the war is like interviewing Dugin but pretending he speaks objectively and analytically rather than as a Putinist. It's ridiculous and people should stop doing it.

Thread. This entity, whatever it is, is imposing a cost on anyone it writes to. A small cost if the recipient just deletes the email; an unbearable one if it scams someone vulnerable. There should be penalties for abusing this privilege.

As fascinating as the Artemis II mission is, the response to it is 95% collective coping. Self-soothing behavior on global scale. Shared attention to positive event allows us to distract ourselves from the fact that we're in this mess up to our necks, and perhaps we should do something about that.

Reminder that none of this would've been possible if not for the neocons manipulating Trump's hatred of Obama to kill the JCPOA. From there, safeguards became unconstrained enrichment and all the scary things they're trotting out became possible. Be careful buying what these guys are still selling.
