The Fat Potato

Angry, mad, fat, crippled & chronically ill queer. Made of 99.9% mash. I don’t like cops, the prison & medical industrial complex or gender. They/them. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️💅🏻💋

I've ranted about this many times, I know, but the one that really bugs me is the fake Hunter S Thomson quote about the music business that's endlessly shared. What he actually wrote is in the image.

The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason.
Which is more or less true. For the most part, they are dirty little animals with huge brains and no pulse.

3k reposts and nearly 10k likes for a misattributed quote that's super easy to check. It's from a 2014 stage adaptation of 1984; that's why it's so uncannily relevant to the 21st century

If we're going to be denied the most basic human dignity, why should we be dignified in our response? 60 bottles of piss in 2022 weren't enough to change the hearts and minds of our transphobic establishment, so start eating whatever runs right through you, grab a lunchbox and get creative.

Pissed Off Trannies (POT) staged the dramatic demonstration to protest the equality watchdog's exclusionary policy on single-sex spaces.

If you are a @theguardian.com reader you wouldn’t know that the largest ever gathering of trans people in history yesterday was protesting against the Burnham government’s transphobic hate-policies. It had an article about making an omelette though.

150,000 marched yesterday in London for trans rights. Opened the Sky News app. Scrolled and scrolled. Nothing. BBC News app. Nothing. Guardian app. Nothing. This is what actual silencing looks like.

Did not make it to yell at fascists today cause I woke up to the right side of my face, neck and jaw all swollen. That's a fun new symptom. Whatever my body is fighting off is flooring me cause I just constantly want to sleep.

Going to London Trans Pride on Saturday? Don’t take SWP or Stand Up To Racism (an a SWP front org) placards/flyers/newspapers; walk past and don’t engage anyone promoting them. If you need help, ask a steward. [CW for sexual abuse in the Wikipedia article] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sociali...

Open Message to
The Socialist Workers Party
We, the team at London Trans+ Pride, are sharing this open statement as The Socialist Workers Party have failed to respond to our direct messages.
We have contacted them many times, over many months and in several ways, to communicate the following message, however we've had no response.
After many years of being on the receiving end of a very difficult and hostile organising style, we are asking The Socialist Workers Party to not attend London's Trans+ Pride 2026 or have any presence at our march.
Last year, the SWP interacted with our team members in a way that was disruptive, disrespectful and
LONDON
dehumanising.

The wellbeing of our Trans+ team members and our wider community is our priority. Their satety is integral and we won't be bullied into complicity.
Additionally, as a team we are concerned by some of the practices of the SWP, as we believe organisations should be survivor-centred and committed to community accountability.
We are not willing to compromise on these values.
SWP, please do not attend our march.
Allyship towards the Trans+ community looks like active listening.
LONDON
We are asking to be heard.

Just days ahead of London Trans+ Pride 2026 on 25 July, organisers have issued an open letter addressed to the SWP www.attitude.co.uk/news/london-...

Watching a Korean variety show where they visit a different country (But stay in Korea) every week. Last episode *Non, je ne regrette rien* starts playing to indicate the next country. "This week we're in!... ITALY!" FUCKEN HOWLING!

The documentary my pals made about me (called Pretty Sick) is showing as part of this. I can't believe me ranting about community care, organising and also being a general clown queer is gunna be on that screen. Ironically I am too sick to make it down for it, but it is SOLD OUT!
