The Sasha

I’m Sasha and my politics reflect no one’s but my own. I like puns and cute animals so be prepared for those. She/her

Once you open a plastic water bottle and don’t finish it just throw it the fuck out. Do not let it set and drink from it again later. It is potentially deadly. Unless you put it straight in the fridge that shit is DANGEROUS.

It’s amazing to see that some of these people are going “whoa, I didn’t know all this, you all feel strongly, I’m changing my policy” and people promise to show up. A brewery in WA reported the busiest night in years after making an apology. People want real. Even a doodle.

i need ppl to stop this shit calling ppl who believe wrong ideas "morons" and "cretins" etc like it's helping you're using eugenicist terminology to classify ppl according to eugenicist worldview, NOTHING fkn good comes of that.

God: Okay, let me see. You're going to have a near-perfect memory for song lyrics. Me: Cool, so I'll be able to sing well? God: Oh Me, no. Not at all. Me: Well at least the memory thing will come in handy in day to day life. Names and stuff? God: No, it'll be specific to the lyrics thing.

I will say one other thing: if you are one of the people who left a one-star review on Tillie Walden's book on Amazon about this, the apology you absolutely must make is to delete your review, BUY HER BOOK, and then and only then, leave the review you think it deserves after reading the whole thing.

out it goes: my long post about Rachel Hope Cleves's claim that Tillie Walden plagiarised her book. It's long because Cleves's claim is much, much more bizarre than it looked on first reading. I'm not going to bury the lede here. Cleves's claim does not hold up. buttondown.com/thene/archiv...

I keep thinking about Flanagan mentioning the fact that so many of our kids in Minnesota now have ACE (adverse childhood experiences) scores because of the things the federal government did here, and how she will work on those kids' behalf in DC. It's amazing to hear someone plainly say that.

I'm in DC now, and when you see the 10-foot fences now enclosing a vast acreage of public parkland around the White House, with burlap on them shielding everything from view and armed guards everywhere making it feel like a militarized zone, the vibe is not, "Yes, still a democracy."

Francesca Hong’s defeat in the Democratic primary for governor defied expectations and may have shown the democratic socialist wave cannot reach beyond urban centers.

The push for Harry Potter the TV show is going to be completely enormous—they're debuting it on fucking Christmas—and it is the responsibility of TV critics to contextualize this as rewarding the world's most transphobic billionaire (which is saying something) in everything we write about it.

I’ve seen a few people commenting today that the idea of separating the MMR vaccine into three separate shots might be a good strategy to get anti-vax parents to vaccinate. Absolutely not. Here’s why. First, countering anti-vax misinformation is like playing whack a mole. You bat down one lie…

If nothing else, the sudden flood of horrible articles last week has confirmed beyond all doubt that all frothing transphobes are also frothing ableists, and therefore their shameless attempts to pit trans and disabled people against each other are mendacious in the extreme and not worth attention.

People have a hard time holding multiple realities in their head & w/nuance: mRNA vaccines are a scientific breakthrough and amazing COVID vaccines don't make you immune Everyone should get COVID vaccines and boosters COVID never ended, ppl still dying/being disabled Not masking is eugenics

"You, as a person using a black-box model, cannot ever comprehensively check its training data to find those overlaps." Exactly. There is no way to use these proprietary models ethically and responsibly. And you make a great point that not all accusations of plagiarism are made in good faith.

Almost all polling places will be boring and normal today. If you see anything weird, get your nearest election judge. If weirdness is outside the polling place, here’s some resources. Steve Simon’s office has prepared for irregularities. Trust their process.

Important: Trump’s executive order is NOT legislation. Though the executive order promotes more misinformation about vaccines, nothing has changed about the availability of childhood vaccines. For evidence-based guidance, please follow and share American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations.
