One of my hobbies is collecting obituaries of American fascists that read like obits for your average, everyday person...like this guy, Iowa Pastor G. Roy Lockwood who died in 2007. As we see on the right, in 1963 he was chilling with Oren Potito, a Hitler admiring white nationalist.

Morningside Christian School founder dies Gone with Jesus. Dr. Glee Roy Lockwood, 89, formerly of Sioux City entered heaven Dec. 12, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Bible Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Ceme-tery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to Christy-Smitt Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.christy-smith.com. Dr. Lockwood was born in Allen, Neb. on Sept. 21, 1918. He attended Allen High School, Morningside College and received an earned doctorate degree. He was the pastor of the former Billy Sunday Tabernacle in Sioux City for 15 years. It was during this time that Morningside Christian School was established and still educates young people for His service. After resigning as pastor and founder of the school, he joined World Literature Crusade which printed Bible literature in 100 languages in 100 countries. He served as vice president of the television and radio production, mobilizing more than 15 million dollars for overseas ministry. He was a member of the Royal Geographic Society of London, England and served on the advisory boards of Global Focus, Atlanta, Ga., and New Tribes Mission of Florida, both world wide missionary or-ganizations. He was a known speaker and author. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Fern Pope Lockwood of Acworth, Ga.; four children, Connie Campbell of Sioux City, Sharon Reesor of Ac-worth, Ga., Sandy Monson of Greenville, S.C., and Marcia Bean of Chicago; 10 grandchil-dren; and 14 great-grandchil-dren. A huge weakness in America's political culture is that we never developed the habit of using the word "fascism" to describe other Americans with any sort of precision or accuracy. Hence fascists like G. Roy Lockwood just passed through life known as a "conservative Christian who hates Communism."

Short version: yes, buttons are getting worse. Long version: by and large, apps and programs and websites these days are effectively dumb terminals -- when you click a button they do no processing on their own, and instead send the data to a central server, which sends a response back. (1/4)

Am I losing my mind or are buttons -- like, digital buttons on websites, apps, car screens -- getting worse? They sometimes need to be pressed two, even three times? Sometimes they don't even seem to work at all? Has someone enshittified BUTTONS somehow?

This is my dad. Without revealing his age, he's proof that 8-80 infrastructure is life-changing. He lives in a car-dependent Memphis suburb. Last fall, the city extended the Greenline within 0.5 miles of his house. Now he rides 5 miles every day and could get all the way into midtown without a car.
