Crepuscular Canard

I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the bacon in the fridge for all those who cry out in hunger.

So rural employment is low-key a giant GOP patronage network. Anybody who speaks out against GOP politics stays unemployed! And/or has to leave! THAT is the real secret to GOP dominance in rural areas. It's not "messaging." It's gatekeeping livelihoods.

“USAID is why rap music is popular” has to be one of the wilder right-wing conspiracy theories I’ve heard. I’m not exactly sure how, but somehow I’m guessing the Jews are involved in this one.

As a philosopher I hate to say it but I agree. Because narrowly in philosophy we do, genuinely, use "social construct" to neutrally classify a class of things in social ontology. But we're clearly outliers in this in the humanities, and the vulgar usage better gets the typical spirit of the thing.

"social construct" = "thing I don't like" is a case where the vulgar usage of something isn't actually that different from its academic deployment

Ok so this lady says solar panels are getting built on "the most productive farmland" in her area. Which just ain't true at all. It ain't true here in NC either. Where I ALSO hear that talking point over & over again. Smells like astroturf! So let's get the dirt on solar farms & dirt ✨

I genuinely don't know what to do about this. In our diseased information environment, one MAGA-adjacent "influencer" can do more to shape public opinion than mountains of studies or facts. Where are the pro-clean-energy influencers to counter this shit?

I’m so fucking sick of this shit. AIPAC isn’t the bogeyman, the final boss. It sucks that Jewish people are scared, stop scaring them please. It’s also not a smol bean. It’s an organization dedicated to a foreign nation that has all but openly declared a partisan interest in our elections.

A very serious Rural Politico once told me "Dems have to go to farmer meetings! We gotta be where the people are!" I was in fact in a farmer meeting at that very moment! So I live-texted him the meeting. They were complaining that they want indentured workers that they don't have to pay or feed.

There would be more pushback if folks left of center were more serious about outreach. But folks aren't despite the fact that our system does give disproportionate power to rural areas. But instead of taking that as the rules of the game as it exists, and actually organizing, we complain about it.

This piece of dogshit doesn't understand how food pricing works I guess. "Cheap cuts of meat" isn't a thing. Ask anyone who used to buy oxtail or goat or marrow on the cheap how much it costs now. If you start speaking out pro liver and then the Goop lady agrees it'll be up 300% in a week

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social · 6d ago

RFK Jr. suggests Americans can more easily afford groceries if they start eating liver instead of beef: "Most of the cheap cuts of meat are very inexpensive. ... You can buy liver"

"This pilot program may or may not work and theres a lot of very reasonable questions about it that we should ask WHILE we engage in the pilot program because THAT'S HOW WE LEARN HOW TO DO BETTER AS A SOCIETY oh my god you people are all on the same side" is my net contribution to discourse

FWIW, Meta was fully aware of how these glasses would primarily be used. The glasses were designed to erase consent, and that is why they exist. Anything that they do that suggests they want to ameliorate this use is an attempt to win the PR battle and manipulate public opinion.

Meta Desperately Trying to Ban Creeps Misusing Its AI "Pervert Glasses"

Meta is vowing to crack down on creeps misusing its Ray Ban smart glasses. Whether it will be enough to regain trust remains to be seen.

the Republican party and their dying pedophile god-king reacted to the astounding fortune of unprecedented gains with minority voters due to inflation and negative polarization with a campaign of open and violent ethnic cleansing! "ugh, get off me, I don't want *your* help"

Conor@ernekid.bsky.social · last wk.

'If Republicans weren't so racist then they would be appealing to conservative Latino and Asian Americans' Yeah probably but that's not going to happen anytime soon

Elon Musk, owner of X, has called the editor of the Economist "a traitor to the West, plain and simple" after her recent interview with him. He now argues that "anyone who opposes remigration is a traitor" Musk has been socialising violence since Aug25: "fight or die, that's what it comes down to"

BildBildBild

Musk was humiliated in his interview with The Economist editor Zanny Minton Beddoes. She called him out on his bullshit, pointed out his lies and ignorance and extreme prejudice. We need more interviews like that. This is the response of the world’s thinnest-skinned man.

UK journalism *created* transphobia as a font of far-right hatred almost entirely unaided. They sowed the sparks and fanned the flames to create the inferno. To now back off because they feel their own safety is at risk from the fire? I'm genuinely furious at the moral bankruptcy involved.

Aurelien Mondon@aurelmondon.com · 2w ago

This is grim and a direct consequence of decades on mainstreaming of far-right politics and euphemisation of the threat they pose Calling it "rightwing" here is exactly what has gone wrong for example 1/ www.theguardian.com/media/2026/j...

Journalists are self-censoring their reporting on rightwing protests, Donald Trump’s administration and trans issues because of growing concerns about their personal safety, with newsrooms accused of “normalising” the risks they face.
