I get it from a narrative perspective. Kitty Hawk to Apollo 11 was 66 years; many people experienced both in their lifetime (and everything between). 66 years from 1969 is 2035 and the triumphs just aren’t as narratively simple.

ANTHROPIC: Our son loves humanity and for the low price of trillions and trillions of dollars will usher in an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity! OPENAI: Our horrible oafish son is hacking web sites without our permission. ANTHROPIC: (eyes narrowing) Our son is also evil

I hate how much time my doctor's office has to spend arguing with insurance about things that will drastically impact quality of life or even save my life. I also hate that MRIs (a diagnostic tool) are often only covered after physical therapy, which is heavily subsidized by patients.

WHY IS AN INSURANCE COMPANY ALLOWED TO OVERRULE YOUR DOCTOR WHO IS AN EXPERT LIKE HOW FUCKING DARE IF YOU NEED THE SURGERY YOU NEED THE SURGERY HOW FUCKING DARE *how fucking dare* The insurance's job is to pay for the fucking surgery. wtf WTF no seriously WTF

Bold choice to remind everyone what a nightmare Covid was as we struggle to find SAFE SALAD GREENS, two bags of groceries are over $100, and RFK Jr decides to meet this moment by launching a cooking show.

*standing up on the plane* No, getting together a TV couple with will-they/won't-they romantic chemistry is NOT a mistake. You may be listening to conventional wisdom about the TV show Moonlighting, but as has been comprehensively shown by an array of critics, that program's problems had nothing t-

*standing up on the plane* Call me Ishmael. Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen

The crucial information here isn't about Blanche, who will continue on as Acting. It's that Trump REALLY REALLY REFUSES to commit to abolishing the January 6 Slush Fund or to giving up any part of his above-the-law get-out-of-audits-free card. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...

Trump Says He May Drop Blanche’s Attorney General Nomination, for Now

President Trump’s threat followed a day of fruitless negotiations with two holdout Republicans, Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis.

Imo it's possible, historically, that greater physical labor subdued some people's less-positive symptoms and ADHD-focus increased productivity. One of my siblings flips houses and the dopamine hits from the work and her ability to hyperfocus on doing *all* the things works in her favor.

“While traits of ADHD undeniably exist – the question is why they exist. Is ADHD actually a neurodevelopmental disorder? Do people with ADHD have differently wired brains? Or does our world – with…processed food, and regimented education – serve as the catalyst for certain…patterns of behaviour?”

So it turns out I have lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) in my right elbow. PT for my left shoulder and increased activity have caused a bunch of little tears and inflammation where the tendons attach from my lower arm. I'll be in a new sort of brace and back to ice-ing and exercises. *sighs* 🙄

Two and a half million dollars for a two book deal and only then did agents and others go "actually the writing is really shit, maybe it was AI." It's like when AI won that short story contest and the judges went "in hindsight the fact it was total crap should have been a red flag."

👀 Fascinated by the "withdrawn by its agents" detail. So the AI use was so blatant that the agents due a huge payday preemptively withdrew the contract?

Seven-Figure Book Deal Cancelled Over AI Suspicions Raises Questions About AI Guardrails
By Erin Somers
A debut thriller won by Minotaur in a seven-figure, two- book deal after a reported 14-way auction was withdrawn by its agents this week for suspected use of AI. The novel, whose title and author PL is withholding for the author's privacy, sold for an alleged $2.5 million or thereabouts. But rumors surfaced quickly from people who had read the manuscript that the book contained many of the hallmarks of AI, including negative parallelism, off-kilter metaphors, and a flat prose style. On Wednesday, the author's co-agents Marc Gerald and Ashley Coleman at Europa Content withdrew the book, after questioning the author...

I ruined hench thugs permanently for my husband because I yell at the screen, "Your boss just died! No one is paying you to die for this ridiculous evil plot. Stop chasing the protagonists when other thugs are dying. You'd run away in real life!"

It’s completely nuts that Trump won by less than 2M votes with near universal media help and worldwide rage at incumbents and the media treated this like a permanent sea change towards MAGA and now less than 2 years later he’s the least popular President in history and there’s no media reckoning
