I watched The Two Towers tonight and cried a bunch and then I read some more of the Tao. This is the most overwhelmed I've felt in a long time and I wish I could take what this all is and show it to everyone because it would fix it. What's "it?" You know what it is.
The truth is no one in a Friday night timeline slapfight has the power you believe they do, but the sad part is we would have that power together.
Scapegoats are emotionally cheaper than systems. Blaming the left asks nothing of you. It feels good and righteous and right. Asking whether your institutions and your party failed you requires dismantling beliefs you have spent your lifetime building. That is emotionally expensive.
I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference
Max Dubler 🏳️🌈@maxdubler.com · 3d agoI think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
