More of our urban parks should have basketball hoops. One thing I think the US does really well that we absolutely don't. I would love to see this as a possible conversation path for parking lots that don't qualify for housing intensification as well.

Let's play a game. Who can come up with the longest-standing example of explicitly "tactical" or "temporary" pedestrian or bike infrastructure? I'll bet we can find one over 10 years old without a permanent version in the pipeline.

There's a plant library and a normal book LFL near me. Trinket library soon too. These things rule. I think there's potential for this kind of thinking to also broaden its scope to integrating with homes, as well, making it more personal and facilitate community bonding & valuing your neighbours.

Someone in DC set up a “little free blockbuster” with DVDs inside instead of books lol

ATU 508: A bus without A/C is a health and safety issue. Call 311 every single time you ride a bus with no A/C, reporting the bus number on the front. Every call demands accountability

Before my mom died last year in Montreal, these increasingly hot days in the city always made me fear for her life. 45 degrees will kill many people. Those deaths are one of many prices of our continued climate inaction (many of which we dont even understand yet), despite knowing what we should do.

Humans are incredibly visual learners and we aren’t good at turning abstract concepts into concrete comprehension. You can take a photo of someone being dragged to a concentration camp and it’s powerful, but it doesn’t capture the full scope of the crisis, right?

Covid-cautious queers of Halifax: I'm hosting this Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon for Mask4Mask at the end of the month. No prior experience with Wikipedia editing is necessary – bring yourself and a laptop. See mask4mask_queers_hfx on Instagram for details (or DM me)!

A light blue poster with the logo of Wikipedia, a white, incomplete globe-shaped jigsaw puzzle, each jigsaw piece inscribed with a glyph from a different writing system. The poster is titled "Mask4Mask Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon" and says: "Tuesday, June 30th, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Halifax Central Common Multi-purpose Room. 5816 Cogswell Street, next to the skatepark. Masks required (KN94). Please create a Wikimedia account prior to event -- details in caption! This event is sponsored by Wikimedia Canada".

Is there any way to get off the damn Rogers telemarketing spam call list? I get called several times per day from all different numbers, all Rogers cold-call telemarketing. Telling them to take me off their list doesn't work. Doesn't this break some kind of law? Should I talk to a lawyer?

Everything we do on the rides is counter to what we’re supposed to do day-to-day. We celebrate bikes & reject car dependency that insulates us from each other. We take space, we move slowly. The bells ring, the bubbles fly, little voices are heard, and we imagine a different future. 3/3
