More of our urban parks should have basketball hoops. One thing I think the US does really well that we absolutely don't. I would love to see this as a possible conversation path for parking lots that don't qualify for housing intensification as well.

There’s a video circulating on FB of a mob of angry white people in Moncton beating up a young Muslim woman while yelling “Go back home.” In front of her child. She had gone to buy groceries. She was yelling for help while people laughed and filmed.

Let's play a game. Who can come up with the longest-standing example of explicitly "tactical" or "temporary" pedestrian or bike infrastructure? I'll bet we can find one over 10 years old without a permanent version in the pipeline.

There's a plant library and a normal book LFL near me. Trinket library soon too. These things rule. I think there's potential for this kind of thinking to also broaden its scope to integrating with homes, as well, making it more personal and facilitate community bonding & valuing your neighbours.

You can even get from Scotia Square down to the park directly. There’s a rickety set of stairs at the end of the crosswalk that is more often than not blocked by people sitting on it smoking, then even if you go down it you have to cross the gravel lot and go around a weird barrier.
