It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

the thing i keep coming back to is this: if they’re willing to joke about this publicly, imagine what they say with fewer eyes on them. if they’re willing to joke about this publicly, why would anyone—let alone an employee reliant on them for healthcare—divulge such sensitive information?

Disappointed to see Jon Stewart & co joke about masking in public. I do it for my medically fragile daughter (Batten Disease). People not masking properly led to her getting pneumonia, which led to her being on life support, which led to me getting price quotes on her cremation just in case.

Girl, same. When I used to be on Facebook, I had so many people private messaging me about their LC (I'm a therapist.) They were not posting about it publicly. Many of these people knew each other, yet they all swear they don't know anyone who has long COVID, and *they* have Anything But Long COVID.

Apparently it’s #SevereMEWeek Rather than producing loads of content showing how ill we are, yet again, maybe this year the ME orgs could call out those responsible for our continued dismissal, gaslighting, and abuse. By name preferably. Maybe we could all do the same?

People still call #LongCovid. a new illness that no one knows much about. Well lucky them choosing not to know about post-viral illness while millions of us have suffered and continue to suffer from #ME for decades. 80% of ME is post-viral maybe more, yet denial has been the norm for decades.

By gutting National Institutes of Health funding, the administration has made it harder to find new ways to bring down inflammation in those with inflammatory diseases. There also needs to be more research into how neuroinflammation in the brain contributes to ME/CFS...

Add me to the list of people whose inflammatory issues were sent into overdrive by covid. I think there are a LOT OF US, and the more they attack covid vaccines & cautionary measures, the more folks are rolling the dice on the horrifying long covid complications that almost killed me.

If you're scared about being the only person wearing a mask, I can tell you that most people do not care. I've been masking for the past 6 years. I've travelled to several different countries in that time. I've never had Covid and I've endured a handful of snarky comments at most. Be brave.

If you haven't been masking, give it a try. What do you have to lose? Just wear one in crowds and on planes, trains, and buses. Find a style that fits, so you don't futz with it. You don't have to get sick all the time.

People still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

Lockdown people are so funny. They pull out their hair at the fact that schools were closed for five minutes, and then you ask them if they actually want to educate poor and minority children and they’re like of course not

My wife had long covid and, although she's happily fully recovered, she was essentially bedbound for two years. Seeing journalists say stuff like this makes me viscerally, profoundly angry in a way that few other things manage.
