Tomorrow is Election Day and we need to make sure every eligible voter knows who to call if there's any issues at the polls. Share this post and save the number to your phone now.

A poster with the text: "Problem at the polls? 866-OUR-VOTE" featuring a raised hand gripping a telephone receiver, symbolizing a call to action. The phone flashes with lightning bolts, emphasizing urgency. The background is black with yellow and white text.

Knowledge is a human right; not just information, speech or media. Without knowledge, we cannot act of our own free will. Without free will, it is not us that is living our own lives. To me, that makes knowledge not just a human right, but the very essence of individual life.” ~ via Heather Marsh

Print this on an index card, stick it in your pocket, and take it to the polls with you when you vote. 18 US Code §592: Troops at Polls, prohibited by law. [You can copy the text in the Alt-txt box directly.]

18 U.S. Code § 592 - Troops at polls
Whoever, being an officer of the Army or Navy, or other person in the civil, military, or naval service of the United States, orders, brings, keeps, or has under his authority or control any troops or armed men at any place where a general or special election is held, unless such force be necessary to repel armed enemies of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both; and be disqualified from holding any office of honor, profit, or trust under the United States.

And obviously that 2008 cycle was a presidential race with open primaries in both parties and then incredibly high stakes in the general. There was ample opportunity and reason for the superrich to spend money there. And it's nothing by comparison to now. This is insane.

The 20 biggest donors this cycle have spent $2 BILLION on the midterms, the overwhelming majority of which has gone to help Republicans. In the entire 2008 cycle, the last before Citizens United, total billionaire spending was $16 million. We must get Big Money out of politics.

for those who haven't voted yet: if you're excited to vote for your local democrats tomorrow - hell yeah, go vote if you're not excited to vote for your local democrats tomorrow - go vote anyway to make the worst people alive really mad, you can enjoy the schadenfreude regardless

I will never stop being stunned at the number of people who treat their vote as a precious little piece of performance art. Yes, this would be better than voting for Rogers. It would, however, be worse than behaving like a responsible and decent adult who understands what voting is meant to do.

NYT: A coalition of Michigan Jewish leaders is encouraging voters who do not support either Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate for Senate, or Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate, to write in Emma Lazarus, the Jewish poet whose words about welcoming “the huddled masses” are displayed at the Statue of Liberty.

This is why I'm running here in NC. The district I live in is gerrymandered to hand the win to a Republican. It's a R+9 district and my opponent never has to campaign because the map picks the winner. It's worth it to run because in person they show how unqualified they are.

I don’t really think “not a politician” should be a selling point for a candidate. The job is politician. I want to elect someone who understands that job and is good at it and also is not a dirtbag. We have seen how catastrophic it is to make “not a politician” the priority over “not a dirtbag.”

Hey shoutout JJ Watt and Jim Nantz for actually saying what Justin Tucker is accused of and saying Reid was understandably under fire for it. I know the bar is low but it’s appreciated!
