I think the OCD framing is part if it but there is another aspect that is harder for me to put into words which is that people like the concept more than the reality. Like, I saw many people say “well it may only be one night a week but what if that is the only night I am able to go out.”

The demand to validate and engage in people’s OCD rituals is in fact pretty triggering for me as someone in recovery from abuse-induced OCD, but that’s not a condition people care about the way “I’ve become convinced I can avoid ever getting sick” is
