"Being trans is sad Being trans is horrid." Shut up. Being trans is great. Look. I've got inner peace and a fucking scythe.

can we sometimes be asking "what qualifies this guy to speak on this subject?" or has that ship sailed
I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
just said this on another post but it bears repeating: the thing about continuing to give money to any jk rowling properties or the nyt is not that they’re shitty about trans people, which they are. it is that both of these entities MATERIALLY CONTRIBUTE to the legal challenges to trans rights
Really excited to learn about End the Ice Age (endtheiceage.com) and the multi-pronged approach to abolishing ICE!
Home
End the ICE Age is a national campaign working to end immigration detention, dismantle ICE, and build safe, welcoming communities for all.

In my latest, I talk with @silkys13.bsky.social about the struggle against ICE. How are the government’s tactics shifting, and how must we respond? We also discuss the tremendous victory of fighting off the warehouse model for the regime’s concentration camps, and where the fight goes from here.
People on Bluesky sigh and talk about The Discourse as if it were something required of them instead of something they opt to partake in, day in and day out. You really don't have to. Post about your favorite cheese
this is absolutely scorching, but I laughed out loud at "There are no sex scenes, and all the food looks horrible."
‘Nolan has read at least the first line of my translation of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘥𝘺𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘺 into iambic pentameter. In one interview, he cited my version of it: “Tell me about a complicated man.” But I would be ashamed to have written any part of this script.’ New, by Emily Wilson www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...
Thing about working with famous epics is that they're famous epics for a reason. Tons of people have had opinions about them for millennia. If you're going to work with one, you know your version is going to piss some people off. Even a *sedate* famous epic inflames some of its audience.
Yes hello it's me the furious husband. It's fine, I just wanted it to be something it ABSOLUTELY wasn't meant to be 😂 (But is it too much to ask for dialogue that doesn't suck??)
Following the trend of the Odyssey being extremely divisive, I thought it was decent and my husband is furious about it
well, I never expected to be published in a Stanford journal, but the McKnight Foundation asked me write my thesis to the philanthropic world after the MN ICE surge: when there is an emergency, just... give money to people on the ground doing the actual work. as fast as possible. radical, I know.
Giving Can Be Simple (And During a Crisis, It Must Be) (SSIR)
When the village cannot wait, philanthropy must learn from community.

This story is gaining some traction, which I’m so grateful for. But I am seeing some people discuss engaging with the bot, and I really want to caution against doing that, even as a joke. Doing so is putting yourself in harm’s way. 🧵
AI has reached a new frontier: conversion therapy for trans kids. Detrans AI‘s site claims it helps users explore their gender dysphoria. Instead, it cites conspiracy theories and seeks to invalidate trans people — even if it risks their lives. Read my original reporting @rewirenewsgroup.com
This is gender-affirming care! The right aren't against gender-affirming healthcare, they just think only cis, straight, white people should get it.
Hegseth announced they're gonna start screening for T and administering testosterone treatment for warriors found wanting
It’s so important to remind people that we can do good smart things that help and don’t hurt.
Two Minnesota solar farms seeded native wildflowers under their panels, and 5 years of counting revealed native bees had multiplied twentyfold, then crossed the fence to pollinate the neighbour's soybeans

Pizza Hut is looking for ways to reconnect with customers after years of restaurant closures and shifting consumer tastes. Some fans say the path forward may actually lie in looking back at its era of colorful lamps hung over checkered tablecloths.
I mean, Belgium deserves to win solely on the strength of their beautiful trans flag kit. #worldcupposting
Okay yes, England has more goals, but Mexico has had more possession time, more shots on goal, more steals, and their whole team is hot, sooooooooooo you tell me #worldcupposting
*rubs my grubby queer little hands all over your theology Me: Oh sorry were you gatekeeping that? *queers your theology harder
Black girls are already adultified in schools-being seen as older, less innocent & more sexualized. Bans on trans girls are going to catch cis Black girls in hypersurveillance & hyperpunishment. Protect trans girls and kids. Protect Black girls. Fight against trans bans. Fight for trans kids
In light of today’s heartbreaking Supreme Court ruling, A Bar of Their Own will be raising funds for Transforming Families tomorrow from 5-8pm 🏳️⚧️
The *may* part is really, really important to stress here. Other states may choose bans, but in Minnesota we can continue to support inclusion.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court upholds West Virginia and Idaho's laws banning trans girls and women from women's sports. Justice Kavanaugh has the opinion for the court, holding that states "may" make sports eligibility based on "biological sex." www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
Now (really, yesterday) is the time to double-down on ways in which we commit to supporting gender-expansive kids in every way we can, at the individual and community level.
We are swiftly headed for a society in which a trans kid must undergo state mandated torture, are banned from being on line, are banned from hanging out in most public spaces, are banned from using bathrooms at school, banned from accessing the health care they need, and banned from playing sports.

Opinion | Why repealing Minneapolis’ bathhouse ban could be a public health win
"History has shown multiple times how invocations of a particular concept of morality can be weaponized against queer people with ramifications on public health and civic good," two professors write.
startribune.com
Minneapolis has moved to end its decades-old bathhouse ban after a 9–2 council vote. It now heads to Mayor Jacob Frey for approval.
So happy and thankful for all the folks who worked to make Minneapolis safer for everyone! 🎉 Feels so rare to get wins like this these days!
The Minneapolis Pride in Policy package led by @jchavezmpls.bsky.social passed *unanimously* strengthening protections and support for 2SLGBTQIA+ residents and making the city one of only a handful of places to explicitly protect & support intersex folks! Big shoutout to @tigerrsmm.bsky.social!
Note that Exeter is one of the few places in the world where people are working on trans theology in a dedicated way. Depending on where these cuts fall, it could be genuinely disastrous for this tiny field, where individual researchers make a proportionally larger contribution to the field overall
Many are following this. Those at risk here on Exeter's Cornwall campus include myself and colleagues in Geography, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Maths, Humanities, and 1/2 the Environment and Sustainability Institute. I really hope this can be resolved.
I'm so excited for the session on conflict on Sept 2nd!!
