Regardless of the specifics of this case and its context, I emphatically believe that housing stability *is* violence prevention and we should seek to support safe housing for all - just as we should work to address gun violence and gender-based violence.

I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

Driving home from a pool party in Uptown with my kids, & we passed both Alex & Renee’s memorials on our way. For whatever reason it hit me hard today & I just wept. Sometimes the heaviness of it all catches me unaware. But I’m glad I am not yet fully numb to it.
