I'm confused how @electioncheatsheet.org & @sharethecities.bsky.social ended up putting Sawant on this. By my count, it's 4 for sawant (and one's a dual endorsement) vs a clean 5 for Smith.

I think it's unfair that Lake Washington Boulevard has played host to Seafair and Blue Angels for so long. Other parts of the city deserve to pay host to this amazing tradition!

Seattle Pessimism is a thing for real and it is mostly a nostalgic lamentation for a city that didnt actually exist and was supposed to die in the 70s and many imagine did...but for the next 40 years where it didnt, and in fact became one of the sizzle cities. Seattle as is refutes them every day

they have traffic cameras all over the place in Australia, as a result they have much higher compliance with traffic laws and much fewer fatalities. their economy hasn't collapsed privacy is a different argument, but enforcing traffic laws doesn't logically entail economic collapse
Concoloris@concoloris.bsky.social · 3d agoA big reason that traffic laws are lightly enforced is because if you actually enforced them a good 30% of people would suddenly have no way to get to work and the economy would collapse. If people want harsher traffic enforcement they need to support mass transit

Here's my take on yesterday's press conference on Seattle's new interim chief and the resignation of Shon Barnes. I'd particularly like to flag the CARE response piece; a different police chief could potentially reduce friction in having CARE responders dispatched by 911 (although not a panacea).

It's wild that a whole park can turn into a parking lot immediately without debate but we cant remove one single street parking space for a safe walking/cycling construction detour.
