Three years ago, Greg Abbott set up a special court, the 15th Circuit, to hear appeals in cases involving the state and challenges to the constitutionality of Texas laws. It was specifically designed to circumvent the courts in liberal-leaning Austin. Last night, Dems swept all three judgeships.

THIS JUST IN: Democrats have FLIPPED the Texas State Board of Education! This is a monumental win for Texas students, families, and the entire education community in our great state. Congratulations to our incredible candidates!

Fuck off with this @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social Sitting in your little NY blue bubble thinking this is just the pendulum swinging back to your side of the aisle. Those of us in TX, GA, and the like have had decades of GOP keeping the pendulum from swinging at all. We want to burn that to the ground

"The American people don't want us to get even; they want us to get things done on their behalf." House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who is now poised to become the next House Speaker, says that Democrats will focus on affordability concerns and not retribution after their midterm wins.

As I wake up, it is now clear that SCOTX has gone from 9-0 Republican to 5-4 Republican. The 15th Court of Appeals, a court created to channel appeals to a Republican court, is now 3 democrats. We have the first female chief justice in Texas history. It's as shocking as Hinojosa.

BREAKING: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has called Democrat Gina Hinojosa to concede the governor’s race, according to Hinojosa’s campaign. Hinojosa has defeated Abbott to become the next governor of Texas.

It’s not just Talarico beating Paxton. It’s Abbott losing. It’s Dan Patrick losing. It’s Mayes Middleton losing. It’s Bo French losing. It’s every single statewide race in Texas—including four (of the nine) seats on the Texas Supreme Court. Holy. Shit.

We've got a board across the doorway to the front hall so Buddy can't greet the trick-or-treaters, and he is not happy about it. The guest bedroom is shut off too so he can't bark at them either.

A brown and white dog peers over the top of a board blocking his access to the front door.
