Bravery looks like seeing the people around you and thinking "what can I do to help?" and then doing it.

Immigration/habeas lawyer. Migration is a human right. Abolish ICE.
On its third attempt tonight, Marblehead Town Meeting approved an “MBTA Communities–compliant” district largely centered on the 125-year-old Tedesco Country Club, meeting 3A requirements on paper while all but assuring no new housing would be built. This comment says it all.
This is such a good letter, & I think equally applies to lawyers. I went to a CLE where a presenter argued with a straight face that within two years, *not* using AI would be unethical. This is nonsense and they're trying to scare/intimidate people b/c they see people won't adopt it voluntarily.
Solidarity with Emily Tucker and her open letter to students. Tucker writes, "But the great thing is, you don’t have to go along with this, and I urge you not to. You can refuse to use the chatbot. You can tell your professors that you don’t want them to use it or to require you to use it."
What is outrageous about this, among many other things, is that makes relief turn on whose loved ones have the resources to hire or luck or network to get a lawyer to file for habeas. If you don't know to file or can't, even "we have no opposition" cases lead to continued detention.
NEW: The Trump administraiton has lost more than 7,000 immigration detention cases in recent months. Increasingly, DOJ is telling judges they have no argument to present or couldn't get facts from ICE to present in court. A look at this emerging trend. www.politico.com/news/2026/03...
Have a question about government records? By Massachusetts law, these are supposed to be open and accessible. All you have to do is file a request. But it's not as easy as it sounds. Massachusetts, one expert said, “is one of the more secretive states.” So we wrote a song about it. trib.al/EWHNLuW
NEW: Federal judges are increasingly furious at what they see as a pattern / playbook of defiance by the Trump administration to court orders in immigration cases — in Minnesota and around the country. Here’s a look at what they’re seeing: www.politico.com/news/2026/02...
How the Trump administration skirts — and defies — court rulings on ICE detentions
A POLITICO review of hundreds of cases brought by ICE detainees shows a pattern of noncompliance that has frustrated judges across the country.

got chills seeing bad bunny say god bless america, ALL of america and listing all the american countries. hell fucking yeah
A simple proposal for federal judges frustrated that Trump Regime isn’t freeing people in response to habeas corpus orders: Order that DHS bring each individual to court for their habeas hearing. If the judge grants habeas, the petitioner walks out free. Bonus: huge pre-hearing burden on feds.
one thing that's great about Bluesky is when there's new Chotiner piece we all meet up like fans of a band for a surprise listening party
I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports. And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.” Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.
Since July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process. This is one that stands out: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
literally every time I try to understand something I end up bludgeoned in the face with the despairing conviction that nothing is knowable at all why do I do this to myself
Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah. Praying for his full & speedy recovery. And so deeply inspired by his example.

perhaps there is a connection between Altman’s belief that what llms do is intelligence and his disinterest in using his own
I know House as a TV show has problems because House the character was an abusive POS but one of the things that show highlights is learning and understanding is iterative. I think the thing that really bothers me about the above is he's pushing an insidious kind of perfectionism.

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

Tried listening to David Remnick’s interview with Ezra Klein; could only stomach 15 mins, up until Klein posited Dems responded to Trump’s immigrant hatred by going super pro-immigrant & open borders, which is absurd. Simply did not happen & disqualifying for supposed political intellectual to claim
What we might refer to as a "Kavanaugh Stop"
WOW. The lead plaintiff is a Latino man who's been here legally for 24 years. He was grabbed off the street by plainclothes federal agents who didn't even ASK about his status. He was detained overnight and only released once a supervisor realized he had been illegally arrested.

one fact that consistently elides the centrist mind is that Democrats tried flanking Trump on immigration policy, to literally zero political benefit.
The biggest problem American liberalism faces is how to maintain high levels of immigration while respecting the democratic will of the public. I have an idea. www.theargumentmag.com/p/liberals-d...
