Cuban government has informed airlines that they only have about 24 hours worth of fuel left for planes. Beyond the obvious damage that suddenly shutting down any country's air travel would have, a not at all small % of food and medicine in Cuba comes by luggage on airlines efe.com/economia/202...

instagram, nyt, etc will face dire judgement for building their hasty breezeblock barricades in our verdant Wide Open Web. that i should hesitate to click on a URL, the holiest of gateways, for fear it will lead only to a "log in to read this content" screen? inexpiable. sin thou canst not absolve
The good news is all the brazen, cartoonish corruption makes it easier to run on an anti-oligarchy, good government platform. The bad news is you still need candidates who want to do that
This is extra important. Don’t believe me? We were able to track the detailed movements of US military and intelligence personnel in Germany to suspected NSA facilities, their homes, brothels, etc using data collected by mobile ad data likely from dumb apps www.wired.com/story/phone-...
Anyone Can Buy Data Tracking US Soldiers and Spies to Nuclear Vaults and Brothels in Germany
More than 3 billion phone coordinates collected by a US data broker expose the detailed movements of US military and intelligence workers in Germany—and the Pentagon is powerless to stop it.

Consider whether you really need that app on your phone. You probably don’t! Third party apps leak a ton of data and we know people get tracked that way. If you don’t need it, delete it For the apps you do need, go through their privacy settings & turn location services to never or only when using
just saw a tiktok of a juggler referring to non jugglers as civilians
I mean don’t get me wrong, I love functional programming and immediate mode UI but our revealed preference is that we want component state and class semantics and keep recreating it in a way that is somehow worse.
i get that parts of making the computer do things can be exhausting/boring/infuriating. but i worry that we will have some problems down the road if we encourage the idea that you can trade away understanding the details. if they resent code so much maybe it isn't for them at all. idk.
If I'm driving behind a truck and they pass home depot without turning in then they don't really need a truck
Alarm clock lobbying the US government to end daylight savings time as a publicity stunt

all the best windows software in history is called something like "joe's thing doer". it does the thing and nothing else and is available on a html website in plain text and takes up under a megabyte of space and uses default windows ui elements and will work until the heat death of the universe
magical realism and it's just getting taxed on your spell ingredients and not being able to support yourself on a court wizard salary
if you turn off a terrible movie instead of suffering through it pointlessly you can still make it to heaven but the angels rib you about it
I hate being bald and walking the same direction as another bald guy. It looks like we’re being summoned by our king
hey dude, I noticed you attempting to carve a small space for joy in the face of overwhelming sadness. kind of problematic considering all the horrors
basically impossible to live in a cave these days without it becoming the Main Thing About You
We did ranked choice and charter reform in Portland, and now instead of City Council being Teargas Ted and 4 ghouls funded by property management firms, we have a council with as many socialists as bootlickers, and they just decided to give 2 million to city parks instead of to the police.
Lots of good lessons from yesterday's election but I think one of the top best lessons is ranked choice voting enables systematic change. We need it everywhere. Ranked choice at the local, state, and federal levels. Ranked choice in post offices and cafeterias. Ranked choice on supermarket shelves
It’s like @johnrogers.bsky.social says: if you constantly label everything you don’t like socialism, and you suck, eventually the youth will just embrace socialism.
I was also wondering about this angle. How do they escalate the rhetoric when they already say New York is a communist dystopia?
Hate it when I'm sidling a narrow ledge and a few stones break away indicating just how far the plunge is
Ohh so like the mattress is firm but they're also like a firm for mattresses
