The street sweeper dads of South Philly are so damn delightful
These South Philly dads bought personal street sweepers for their block

It isn’t my field but I’ve been around enough volunteer trainings to say: people in America do not know basic civics, like city, county, state and there are electeds at each level
A lot of people in America don’t know who their Senators are

I was trying to explain what a Twin Cities River Rats show is to someone and summed it up as “imagine all the chaos, grit, and heart that goes into a community theater production, now imagine that on water skis on the Mississippi.” I think that about sums it up. ✨Tonight’s Opening Pyramid✨:
COVID-19 spread continues to increase across the US as this summer’s wave keeps climbing. While levels are highest in the West & South, there are hotspots in all regions. The CDC as well as mainstream media sources are downplaying this wave as they have many others. thesicktimes.org/2026/08/18/n...
Recovery Bike is doing their annual group bike ride to the Fair on Aug 29th. Meet times and stops below:

DJ kernco makes his grand entrance to the perennial cycle pop divas bike ride in minneapolis tonight by emerging from a multi colored cloud of smoke!
You guys, have you tried living in a dense neighborhood where you can wander around events with no plans and run into at least a dozen friends? And then grab dinner at a great place within walking distance with a bunch of them? I do recommend it.
Just thinking about how a hundred years ago there was an electric railway running hourly trains from 5am to Midnight between Hibbing and Gilbert
They never talk about bikeways and commerce. For the last couple of years, this is an intentional route I take to work. It gives me a 15 mile ride before work. Of the entire path, only the Bryant Avenue bikeway has significant commerce & I spend money at several shops along this route. #Minneapolis
Aside from everything else, this is a monumentally Minneapolis news photo.
Love that MN AFL-CIO is on this list of domestic insurgent organizations and also has a building at the State Fair where you can play union bingo and win a tote bag
A motion filed this morning in the "Minnesota 15" case details extensive surveillance of labor unions, leftist organizations and racial justice groups by the federal government during Operation Metro Surge. Here's the motion — reading through it now and will have a story up later today.
How about instead we focus on revoking the license and impounding the cars of anyone who drives drunk, parks in a bike lane, drives down a bikeway, speeds, or uses their phone while driving? You know, the actual dangerous stuff.
Hey, this ride is coming up on Saturday, 10 a.m., starting at the Como Lakeside Pavilion! It's a team-up between @moveminnesota.bsky.social and ourselves and we designed the route to be welcoming to all riders. It's just 4.5 miles round trip. Did we mention the destination is CONNYS CREAMY CONE!
This should be plainly called out by media as the anti-scientific lie that it is. It's not just anti-vax. It's flat-out fake. This is a lie and that word should be used.
Trump: "At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body."
Don’t hesitate to come to the polls; DOJ monitors will be outside the 100-foot zone, you don’t have to talk, you also don’t have to freak out, if you see them talking to anyone before they vote (they can only do so after) or engaging otherwise, tell the precinct head judge. We’re trained to help.
“Our office is fully prepared to protect and defend your right to vote,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Any reports of threats, harassment, or intimidation directed at voters or election workers will be reviewed and, if appropriate, prosecuted.” www.startribune.com/minnesota-of...
Multiple ICE vehicles were reported at the Quarry tonight so I went down there and saw so many observers out answering the call and keeping people safe. Tomorrow is Election Day and we’re going to go make our voice heard and protect one another while exercising our right to vote.
I normally don’t brag about taking expensive trips, but I just got back from the grocery store.
Chuds started realizing she can win the 2028 election this weekend.
I have zero data to back this up, but when we got our cargo bike in 2021 the other cargo bike riders I saw while out & about were ~80% men (maybe even higher, TBH). Now, I feel like it’s *way* more balanced. Since 2021 we’ve gotten a lot more protected bike infrastructure.
Better cycling cities are not just "more bike-friendly." They are also more equitable in access to cycling between genders. This means that infrastructure, safety, and policy improvements tend to benefit women more by removing barriers that affect them disproportionately.

The BWCA is a treasure that should be protected. This rising loon proved more photogenic than the black bear that was strolling the shoreline across the river from our campsite.
