I am not Bob the Angry Flower. I am not a content creator. I am a normie-adjacent weirdo with a lifelong lucky streak of falling into the social orbit of talented and amazing people. Ok, fine: "reply guy"

I actually had a colleague who died in a pretty horrible way and all anyone could talk about was how much of an asshole he was. And he obviously did not contribute as much evil to the world as lindsey graham. Remember, senators are all friends, but they're not YOUR friends

My hot take is that Lindsey Graham did many contemptible things but if you’re furious that his Senate Democratic colleagues are posting nice things about him today you need to put down your phone, get some fresh air, and remember a time when a colleague you disliked departed this mortal coil.

“restoring faith that better is possible” is maybe the most important thing in politics right now outside of imposing consequences on the bad people (and imposing consequences would help restore faith) we have seen what cynical, “lol nothing matters” politics leads to and it leads to Donald Trump

My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people. And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.

A post from @matzollerseitz.bsky.social reads:

“So what I'm getting from this is, incrementalism is bullshit and we should just do the stuff that we say would be good for society”

And the post is quoting a post from @owillis.bsky.social that reads:

“They call him WIN-dani

Mamdani delivers promised rent freeze on 1 million rent-stabilized apartments https://www.politico.com/news/2026/06/25/mamdani-delivers-promised-rent-freeze-00977449”

its crazy how one of the only jobs where you can openly espouse the most disgusting gutter racism on-the-clock is “person who makes laws and is in charge of everything”

jk rowling is still palling around with fellow transphobe kaeley triller on twitter, who admitted to the statutory rape of a minor under her care when she was working as a youth counsellor. rowling knows this because she blocks people who tell her

this is what it sounds like when one side says gas turbines poisoning memphis are bad and laptops shouldn't cost $3000 while the other side says data centers are glonzo because wlel data is used for lots of things

today on the streetcar the man sitting across from me ended what seemed like an important business call with “well, as snoopy would say: gawrsh!” then he frowned, looked at me, mouthed “goofy?”, I nodded, then he said “I’m just being goofy!” and hung up, and gave me a thumbs up

When I finished writing my bio of Cornelius Vanderbilt another "biographer" claimed he went insane from syphilis 9 years before his death, which was impossible, & wouldn't share his source. Then he went to prison for theft of rare documents & claimed as a defense severe bipolar disorder. So, no.

Since the historians here are all talking about citations and going to extremes trying to verify something, here's one of my stories about chasing down a claim my predecessor at Princeton once made and discovering it was basically a fabrication.
