"What would you do if AI suddenly disappeared?" Nothing in my life would change for the worse. On the contrary, I'd make more money because readers wouldn't have to dig through Kindle AI slop to find my books. And I could build a high-end gaming PC again without paying out the ass for RAM and SSDs.
At the very least, your contrarian screeds should be well-researched and approached seriously by its author. You do not have to host poorly edited and unfiltered ramblings whose arguments lie between Previously Debunked and Obvious Nonsense. That's for personal microblogs, not your org newsletter.
Girón: oh also, people are way too divided these days Girón: like, some people are pro something, other people are against that same thing Girón: and ai is just one more thing that you have to have an opinion on! Girón: everyone should stop having opinions on ai and just be pro ai!
Girón: oh no boo hoo hoo ai is bad, well maybe you didn't know this but you've already been forced to use ai constantly, against your will by the powers that be Girón: so maybe you should give up and learn to love the slop Girón: unless you like being a hypocrite
Don’t forget to cast your vote for the 2026 Hugo Awards! Did you know that voting on the entire Hugo Awards ballot is NOT required? Do you know films and video games, but not novels? Do you love art and graphic stories, but haven't read the novellas?

Well I mean SOMEONE had to season the primordial soup.
Bet you didn't know that the Little Morton Salt Girl is an immortal being who existed before there was life on Earth.
if there's a cat in your house you gotta go bother 'em. hurry
"Free for subscribers" is one of those phrases that unreasonably niggles me and is everywhere. The service/product is available for a subscription fee. Fee and free sound very similar, but actually mean something quite different.
Do you like A Christmas Carol? Would you like a prequel to it (that is not that movie we have been seeing posters about?) You can listen to "Marley and Cratchit" here, narrated by Ian Stuart which who I imagined narrating it while I was writing it www.castofwonders.org/2015/12/epis...

1. Thank you 404 for reporting on this 2. This place advertised this as an available service, then pretended they didnt. 3. I have asked for them to remove our anthologies from their site as they clearly cannot be trusted with other people's work.
IMPACT: that company that was offering to buy books for AI companies’ training data — and probably destroy them in the process — says it will no longer offer this service following 404 Media’s exposure of it www.404media.co/ai-company-t...
Ha there just seems to be a steady stream of articles with genAI "thought leaders" saying "if people don't pay for our product then we will not have money to produce the product" as if this is some profound statement.

Thank you to everyone who reported abuse of this publication that was publishing many many many people's work without their permission after scraping Daily Science Fiction's archives. The site appears to be taken down now, and may it stay that way forever.
Hey! If you were published at Daily Science Fiction, be aware that a site called Science Fiction Weekly has stolen the entire story database & posted it on their site. All of my DSF stories are there without my permission. sciencefictionweekly.com
Looks like someone pirated Daily Science Fiction's entire output and posted them here, claiming to have author permission. At least a dozen authors to my knowledge have said they didn't grant permission. If you were published by DFS, you might wanna consider a Cease and Desist.

If anybody was excited that Science Fiction Weekly is aiming to "revive" Daily Science Fiction, you should know they are straight-up lying about having gotten permission from writers to republish DSF stories on their website. (Yes, I have sent a DCMA takedown notice.)
They have several of my stories without permission, and crucially they say "get in touch" to get them taken down...but provide no method for doing so. GROSS.

Just got out of the Alamo where I watched DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE BIKINI MACHINE, a mystifying Vincent Price vehicle which was born when AIP decided to make a movie featuring both their beach party stars and their Edgar Allan Poe stars and made it a James Bond spoof for good measure. I had a blast
