suspiciously green bananas is sadly one of the funniest things i’ve read in awhile
NEW: Israel has imprisoned an American teen. Soldiers raided Adam's West Bank home right before his sister’s grad party. They ignored his US passport. As they took him, they blew kisses at his mom. Adam is now the second American in Israeli prison. Trump just hosted Netanyahu for the eighth time.
Israel Has Imprisoned a 16-Year-Old Palestinian-American Boy for Two Weeks
Adam Karakrah is one of at least two Americans in Israeli prison – both held while Trump hosted Netanyahu for the eighth time.

While I'm working, OneDrive will sometimes show me a photo in the corner of the screen and prompt me to enjoy the memory it has dug up for me to consider. I never want to see these memories, and while not all my memories are bad, not many of them make me happy to be interrupted with them.
It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough
Ecuadorian prosecutor Alexandra Bravo was fatally shot on June 14 by a hitman. Bravo had been investigating U.S. strikes on three Ecuadorian boats in which 36 passengers survived, many of them recounting alleged torture by American gunmen in U.S. military uniforms aboard a U.S.-flagged patrol ship.
“Zero Accountability”: Ecuadorian Prosecutor Assassinated While Investigating U.S. Boat Strikes
U.S. boat strikes across the Caribbean and eastern Pacific have killed at least 221 people since September, while the Trump administration has provided no evidence linking the vessels or their passeng...

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.
The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor
The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

besides everything I said here, if the wife's story is actually true (i.e. the "overwhelming urge to pull the trigger" thing) then she's got such impulse control issues that she should be red flag law'd
The piece that launched a thousand posts. Read what @emilyrcwilson.bsky.social actually said here: www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...
I went back to Emily Wilson's piece to see if I could find where she, presumably, criticizes Nolan's film for its unfaithfulness to the original text, and got four paragraphs in before finding the exact opposite.

Elon Musk is a neo-Nazi, but most of the political and media establishment give him a pass—and continue to use his propaganda website. Incredible piece from @jamellebouie.net with the receipts.

stephen miller killed this couple, as surely as if he'd pulled the trigger himself
Stephen Miller said just the other day that all asylum claims are "fake." A couple deported from the U.S. to Guatemala were gagged, bound, and shot dead. Their 14-month old found crying next to their mother's body. People like Miller don't care though because this is the point: ethnic cleansing.
I wrote about the Nolan Odyssey for the LRB. I'll summarize some of my main points below, in case you don't feel like reading all that. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Many left-wing writers are still on X. I think if you’d asked them five years ago if they’d stay if the owner was a white supremacist who advocated race war and the murder of people who opposed mass deportations they would have said no of course not, that’s crazy. And yet
If a few years ago, I posted that the conditions inside the Federal Detention Center in Miami were cruel and inhumane, very few people could have cared. This year when ICE detainees were transferred from "Alligator Alcatraz" to FDC Miami, they complained that the conditions at FDC Miami are worse.🤷🏿♂️
then how are you tweeting sir
I believe a lot of the "AI loses money!" stuff, while true, misses the mark. AI is a technology the ruling class are going all in on because they believe it will give them more power over the working class. I believe this is an investment in class power rather than a direct financial investment.
I actually think the trillionaire saying his AI tool will remake a movie without the Black and trans actors in it should be a bigger story because it’s a perfect example of why the ruling class wants AI to succeed: so they can remake reality without those they deem undesirable - every nazi’s dream.
There is a lot to say about the Nolan Odyssey movie. But one point that I think has not been emphasized enough is: this is a film about living in LA, as Nolan, my erstwhile British compatriot and age mate, has done for years. I gather it’s a strange place.
Algorithm update. Bunch of people have been doing this exact kind of thing to get around TikTok censorship and it’s wild. Feels like an analogue horror series
