I cut them—but when I sent chapters out as articles I got a LOT of feedback that my work wasn’t well documented. I took it back to my committee, who were baffled until I explained racism…

Speaking as someone who’s a bit closer to seeing the direct impacts of the MAGA murder of USAID than some, I just don’t have a ton of patience for people who want to condemn USAID for what it was and who also don’t have opinions or solutions on dealing with the hideous fallout of its destruction.

So sure, USAID was a tool of US soft power and political influence, and also, I sometimes get the sense that people saying this don’t quite comprehend the torrent of death, horror, and pain that is currently unfolding from the genuinely evil decision to suddenly destroy it.
