hey @joshuajfriedman.com if there's one thing I might beg you to communicate internally - the (a?) core of bluesky users want opt-in instead of opt-out, because we don't trust social media corporations to ever do good thngs. It's a learned distrust, and it might not be fair, but it's there.

I don't even know what to say. This is real, this is true, so, like, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. This took over 25 years to happen so if there's any lesson here it's either "keep at it, who knows" or "many people are divorced"

the proper way to learn a bartender's name is to accidentally become a regular and either figure it out when someone else says it or let so much time pass that it would be really awkward to ask them and then just bring your annoying friend who is the type of person that immediately asks

Always weary when a new customer at the bar asks me my name like right away, sometimes before they even order anything. Give it a second there, pal. You can’t shortcut being an actual regular by just knowing my name.
