Today's vote in Kansas on whether to hold partisan elections for Kansas Supreme Court seats is not about "democracy." It is about Republican politicians who are angry at the court and Kansas voters for protecting abortion rights, and who want to reshape the court to do what Republicans want.

The Push to Elect Kansas Supreme Court Justices Is a Cynical Anti-Abortion Power Grab

In 2022, Kansas voters overwhelmingly rejected the GOP’s anti-abortion agenda. Four years later, state lawmakers are trying “another path.”

NEW: Voters have rejected Republicans' scheme to unseat the Kansas Supreme Court's Dem-appointed majority and overturn abortion rights. Amendment 1 would have let the GOP replace the system of a nominating commission, gubernatorial appointment, and retention elections with direct partisan elections

WNBA needs to realize and quick that transphobes will never buy tickets because they don't actually give a fuck about women's sports. But the fans who DO give a fuck will not take kindly to hand-wringing or both-sidesing over this reactionary culture war horseshit

Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

CNN’s Harry Enten: “In a word, ‘yikes’: Trump's moderate GOP support is collapsing. He led them by 69 points vs Harris in 2024. His net approval now is +10 pt. A 59 pt shift. He was more trusted vs Harris on the economy by 80 pt. Net approval now? +3 pt. A 77 pt shift! On inflation, he's at -17 pt!”

Can confirm. As Gabe posted this I'm in beautiful Prague riding trams that are nearly 10km/h faster on average than Toronto's, despite having large sections in mixed traffic. Let's catch up with the rest of the world, reduce emissions and boost the economy!

Grateful to have the support of transit researcher @jedwinmok.com. When someone who studies this for a living says fixing the 506 is achievable, you listen. Let’s make College St. 2.0 a reality 🚈💨

Trump has dismantled a hundred years worth of environmental protections and the Sunrise Movement's banner image in August 2026 is a photo of them protesting Kamala Harris.

2016 was the important one. Everything since has been a reaction as every reckoning this party & country need remains untouched. 2020 was an opportunity & the admin we had did what they could w/ what they were given. It was far more than you’ll give them credit for. The time for more unity was 2024.

So that’s the thing to know, if you’re a tabloid that’s going to name-check me in another round of transphobic shit about Bluesky discourse. I don’t stand with you. I stand with my trans friends and family members. ⏹️

It was so bad that year it straight up took out a huge chunk of Republican voting districts that’s why the Republicans were tepidly pushing it. If it wasn’t for the fact it was annihilating their voting block they would have hard denied it during the pandemic.
