If the truth is on your side, if he really did commit those crimes, and there is solid evidence of that, then it's 100% ridiculous to shy away from that fight. Make the argument. Fight for what's right. Be a hero. Hiding in a corner impresses no one. #ImpeachConvictRemove

I've been around a while. Sucker for pithy turns-of-phrase. Too much time on AI. https://corsirosenthalfoundation.org/ "The first lie of fascism is its own inevitability. " @jeffsharlet.bsky.social NO KINGS NO NAZIS NO SLAVES NO VILLIANAIRES
nice to see an attempt at analysis. it’s going to be tough to thread the needle on yes on renewables, no on data centers when it’s the exact same people opposing both. not sure the analysis is that great: it suggests the goal is to make people feel Listened To and then do the same thing anyway
okay straight off, this kind of thing is VERY bad to use as a proof. One thing that I recognize immediately is that black people tend to deny by litigating our own innocence. Mostly because instinctively we know that our word is rarely trusted
I once had a longtime criminal defense attorney tell me he felt guilty people often said “there’s no way this could have happened because of X, Y and Z,” instead of ”this did not happen because I did not do it.”
There be no greater success of capitalism than the continued belief that something that costs more must be better.
The problem with this idea is that it requires that quality/durability of a product grow exponentially with price. E.g.: if you pay $5 for a whatsit, it lasts a year. If you pay $10 for a whatsit, it lasts 3 years. This is an absolute mathematical requirement for the theory to make sense.
Data Centers: West Coast lie-beral plot. "Stop the Steal" of Texas' electricity.
Makes me wonder how bad Republicans’ internal polls are in Texas
ok now that I've gotten public buy-in on the Taco Bell Principle, let's find out if we can apply it in real time
I would like to propose the Taco Bell Principle When a person/institution Did A Problem, & IMMEDIATELY fesses up & takes proactive steps to solve it That's exactly what we want them to do? So how bout we let them live ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So, I've heard a little about this Gail Simone. They say she can tell a good story.
Okay, I am going to tell a little story. It's one I have saved for the last couple years, almost nobody knows about it. But it lives in my heart. I don't know how others will feel about it, maybe something, maybe nothing. It's about the Uncanny X-Men. 1/
i just cant understand why voters are flocking to outsider candidates instead of sticking with the establishment picks
I was appalled (though not surprised) when I learned Sunday that Senate Dems intend to help Republicans fund the government through the election, with one minimal concession that has nothing to do with election subversion or ongoing Trump theft of federal dollars from blue states. And I remain so.
“What if I could peel away some of the right wing base…” is a stove centrist democrats keep touching because they know they won’t move any further left hah.
There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
Why is it never seen as a problem that Gab or Truth Social are alt-right bubbles, or that Musk is actively making X a white-supremacist site, but a social media site being perceived as liberal or progressive is a horrible flaw that must be rectified? Is it a money thing? It must be a money thing.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
What we see is not the success of Trumpism but the faults of a republic which does not put effort into maintaining an electorate fit to govern itself nor see the value in institutions fit for informing and/or protecting that electorate. They see value in entertainment & ratings. They want a show.
The wrist snap as they proceed ... 🤌

these people talk about the supposed strength of the democratic party's brand and the best way to counter this is to ask who controls the presidency, house, senate, and supreme court *right now*
Not the most important concern, but that James Carville keeps getting trotted out and used in fundraising emails is maybe the best example of "stuck in the 90s" thinking
Don't know if @natolambert.bsky.social will want to take up plan subscription vs pay as you go, or if Interconnects has already. The models I talk to say you're nuts if you don't use pay as you go. Open or not.

As a New Yorker, it's not lost on me whatsoever that these corporate-backed campaigns that support the inferior candidate in every primary around the country are being supported by the same class of party bigwigs that tried to resurrect that perv Andrew Cuomo's career

I learned this from growing up in Los Angeles around older folks who were around when it happened & still talked about it. But it’s also a subplot in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and people are shocked when I tell them that part of the movie is a true story.
Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
This. As hard as it may be to truly wrap your head around this idea, being intelligent, that is, having the capacity to entertain an idea without *believing* it, may get you further than befuddlement.
Homelessness, like poverty, is a problem with a simple solution that costs money: 1. Find someone who is homeless 2. Give them a home 3. Repeat until no one is homeless …but the prosperity-gospel crowd thinks homelessness is a divine punishment for being lazy/wicked, and so opposes step 2.

Such an amazing and dedicated human. What an utter disgusting time we’re living in: believing in science and saving millions of lives makes you a target for having your life threatened. Thank you, Dr. Hotez for your bravery. I promise it will be rewarded someday soon. Please keep fighting for us. 🙏💜
