*sigh* so RFK Jr. is pushing a meat and coleslaw diet on everyone in the administration based on a book by a dietician who is a never wipe your own ass guy and Rubio has gone on the record saying that he doesn't follow the diet because he enjoys pop tarts too much

Even if you're completely on Bluesky's side on this, thinking that quoting a Johnny Cash lyric in an obvious joke about a Johnny Cash article should be treated like a serious death threat, What the fuck do you mean, "Our mod team's turnaround time on responding to Death Threats is a month?"

(Then I learned that in a MAJORITY of teen pregnancies the father is >20 years old and the proportion of adult fathers INCREASES the younger the mother is and, yeah, maybe teen pregnancy IS proof of a deeply wicked society actually, just, not the teen being wicked!)

It's wild* how Pichai's takeaway from realizing his bubble's wobbling is "prop up AI!" & not "gosh why do we keep weaving speculative hype through fundamental systems to the almost sole benefit of the already-wealthy, & what does that say about our economic system?" (*Not wild at all; v predictable)

Google boss says trillion-dollar AI investment boom has 'elements of irrationality'

absolutely wheezing at an Instagram clip of comic Stevie Martin (who I love from being a maniac on Taskmaster) claiming that Shakespeare only had three plays: 1. “I’m Not a Good Monarch” 2. “I’ll Pretend To Be You, You Hide Behind That Plant, and We’ll Both Marry Her” 3. “The Lion King”

So, in the SAG-AFTRA video game strike of 2016--not the most recent one--SAG-AFTRA attempted to codify residuals to voice actors for games. The game companies--predictably--fought back against that. What was interesting, though, was the behind-the-scenes talk of *why* they fought back. <cont'd>

To me this has been in the works for a while (we just called it outsourcing and ignored it while it affected more niche professions like 2D artists on large projects). And if we had solid guilds and a revenue model with residuals that support time spent between projects it might even be almost good!
