No fucking shit buddy. This is what we were trying to tell you.

One million tiny totally worthwhile comments. Mostly here to reply "same" or "yikes" or "where's the lie" or "nice ratio" or "F" (he/him)
there is no reforming this. any liberal politician who isn't running on abolishing the entire department and prosecuting everyone who has worked there isn't worth supporting. that's the moderate position at this point
Pierre Damas Bel was a physiology and neuroscience student at Wright State who had dreams of going to medical school. He was a bright student and cherished community member. ICE’s cruelty is killing people.
People really need to get used to the idea that unless you are buying an indie game on itch dot io made by one person in their garage, that the average gamedev is facing significantly more theft from their bosses than any amount of piracy in the entire history of the internet has ever cost them
It’s pretty blackpilling that Republicans are actively trying their best to destroy the world and the biggest media outlets in the U.S. (in some cases owned by said Republicans) are making shit up about progressives instead of covering it. We need to replace that whole media ecosystem
“In one stroke, Trump has just validated everything the Latin American left has ever said about U.S. imperialism. And we’ll be paying for that, diplomatically and strategically, for decades to come.” @pkrugman.bsky.social

A scam that is both vile and deeply stupid

Was just watching “I’m Still Here”, a film about a family suffering under the Brazilian dictatorship, and one thing not discussed enough about the rise of fascism is: for a lot of people, it’s the perfect chance to unleash hate as a recreational activity. For them, it’s fun.
This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
The polls are super bad for Trump so he's definitely going to try to cheat www.nytimes.com/2026/09/01/u...
“I came to this country to pursue my education. I didn’t come here to commit a crime or hurt anyone. Yet now I’m walking through the streets with a GPS monitor on my leg, carrying a feeling of shame and humiliation that I never imagined I would experience.” www.springfieldnewssun.com/local/spring...

A 20-year-old Wright State student took his own life on Interstate 70 out of anguish over a required ICE ankle monitor, according to local community advocates.

they've seized onto the absolute dumbest talking point possible on an issue their own base hates
Scalise: "We are investigating whether China is behind a lot of this misinformation against data centers"
In my last job (Washington Post Opinion section), I was asked repeatedly to write about the book "Abundance." I kept making excuses. Finally, I just bluntly stated that there are many, many books published about politics and it was strange that the entire political media was obsessed with this one.
So funny watching the media try to write 2000's era Grand Theft Auto Outrage articles now that the whole country is a casino run by murderers.
Business owners say lots of things to the news, but I doubt a single one can tell us with any level of accuracy what percentage of their patrons arrive by what mode of transportation. Nor can they ever seem to say why it’s the city’s responsibility to provide them with (often free) car parking.
I’ve repeatedly posted many news reports where the business owners said what they said. There’s a whole organization of people who opposed this new construction. Where’s your data that things have improved? Anything? Any dimension. I can’t help it if you don’t follow all the posts.
I'm gonna keep saying it forever but the hardest job a Democratic administration will have is making the median voter understand how fucking evil these people truly are.
the thing about every major figure in this administration is that every single one of them is an irredeemable piece of shit and the thing about the next democratic congress and next democratic presidency is that they absolutely must treat these pieces of shit with all of the respect they have earned
Weiss started her activist career in college going after a Muslim professor and decades later she is sticking with it.
Scoop: Bari Weiss is throwing her full support behind CBS News' widely-panned report about Abdul El-Sayed's old mundane tweets which referenced 9/11—but within the network, the story isn't being received so well. Details in @status.news: www.status.news/p/cbs-news-e...
Just gonna keep pointing out: White voters mostly *sided with the protesters* during BLM 2020 protests. Many pundits cited @owasow.bsky.social's research on protests hurting Dems in the 60s, but I interviewed Wasow and he correctly predicted times had changed: www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

One of these two candidates if elected will vote to give the Egyptian junta 3 billion dollars of free weapons every single year and the other one is the Egyptian-American.
Mike Rogers describes Egypt as "home" for Abdul El-Sayed (El-Sayed was in fact born in Michigan)
Sickening to hear the head of the "Jewish Democratic Council" repeat a defamatory lie, concocted by centrist smearmongers and their MAGA brethren, that debases the very meaning of antisemitism.
Fascists aren’t hiding anymore—they feel completely emboldened in today's political climate. At Orlando’s Kia Center, an MMA fighter with SS lightning bolt tattoos won to cheers and Nazi salutes from unmasked bigots. Ban extremist fighters and purge this hate! End fascism now! 🎥 alchemist333777
Disaster researcher here checking in to confirm these are extremely appropriate statements to make about the COVID response.
CBS News has posted a breathless story about how two El-Sayed tweets they just discovered "invite scrutiny" ... ...And then you read the tweets and uh, they don't seem that out of line, especially for someone who has a medical degree. www.cbsnews.com/news/abdul-e...
This fantasy of being forced to grovel before Black peoples in perpetuity is in response to a news story about large corporations reporting their ties and is a perfect demonstration of how these flights of fancy are meant to derail concrete solutions aimed at definable actors.
It's still insane to me that when COVID hit, it didn't juice the one campaign that was fighting for universal health care. Somehow the powers that be still destroyed that whole movement, ensuring nothing good could happen for another decade.
This is just an obvious skill issue. Noob hasn't realized he can use a "charitable foundation" to do social engineering.
It's not until he says the magic words, that he fears losing control, that it fully clicks. It's not that he believes philanthropy is bad, it's that the risk of someone receiving his money who he doesn't approve of is a bigger problem than the risk that his money helps no one. That speaks volumes.
The Trump administration is building the case for cracking down on the left by commissioning a study that contradicts everything else we know about political violence in the US, which comes overwhelmingly from the right. Here's the real science: www.journalofdemocracy.org/articles/the...
The Rise of Political Violence in the United States | Journal of Democracy
In a deeply polarized United States, ordinary people now consume and espouse once-radical ideas and are primed to commit violence.

the infuriating thing about all of the crises going on right now is that they were completely predictable the second they announced they were gutting food safety monitoring, everyone knew it would lead to a bunch of contamination and recalls! we could have just not done it! it's all so stupid
This summer's food recalls are broader in scope, longer-lasting, and more severe than past years as regulators are slow to respond. The parasite surveillance staff at the CDC, which responds to outbreaks (such as cyclosporiasis), was downsized last year by DOGE from 11 people to three.
the point is to put AES and 9/11 in as many headlines as possible. even if it's the most innocuous statement imaginable
Are you kidding me www.cbsnews.com/news/abdul-e...
among other things, trump's reactions to being thwarted tend to be extreme and erratic and can have impossible to gauge effects on elections. for example, there is a not insignificant chance that he attempts another violent coup.
PSA: if the Democrats win majorities in Congress come November, that sets up two very consequential years of constitutional conflict that will have its own effects. Legislative campaigns against a Republican trifecta now are an imperfect guide to politics in two years.
Sure, but what does this have to do with Hasan Piker?
I always feel in my heart sink when I see posts like this. The Democrats have failed to capitalize on so many obvious angles of political attack in my lifetime. Whenever some really basic strategy is explained, I imagine them staring like a dog who doesn't understand pointing.
