Published estimates of AI energy use per prompt (~0.3 watt-hours) appear reassuring small. But they are increasingly disconnected from how we actually use AI. Modern agentic tools use around 600 times more energy per prompt, as I discuss in my latest over at The Climate Brink www.theclimatebrink....

What's amazing to me is that in the current political climate of killing any and all basic science research by the gov, we have all these biohacker types pretending they are doing science by spying on their children. 🤯

Biked 1 mile to coffee. Then biked another mile to the pharmacy. Then biked 1 mile home. 95% on protected (separated) bike infra. More Americans deserve the freedom of a life like this (if they want it).

Laura rides a bike on a protected bikelane. She has coffee on her handlebar mount and a front milk crate vasket. There are 2 other people on bikes in the background.

Absolutely unbelievable how solar power has taken off worldwide during the Hormuz oil crisis. You don't have to hand it to him, but Trump may have done more to finally kick off a global civilization of effete librul solar users than anyone else in the West

Chart showing solar panel exports from China (the main solar panel maker by a long shot) growing steadily & mightily from 2018 through 2026, then spiking by almost 2x in March 2026.

Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.

So far this year in New York City, there have been over 33,000 cases of car drivers running red lights, over 22,000 cases of car drivers failing to yield right of way to pedestrians, and over 50,000 cases of dangerous speeding in cars. But yeah, tell me how e-bikers are the ones ignoring the rules.

I think if we read between the lines of our contemporary and near-contemporary sources it's pretty clear that Qui-Gon Jinn was Anakin's father. The Jedi sources of course won't admit this directly but what they *don't* say makes any other explanation unlikely, to my mind anyway.

“Darth Vader” was an amalgamation of various Imperial Era generals and cyborgs that were combined in histories written centuries after the fact
