Rando. Game design enjoyer cursed to also follow public policy. My most defining attribute is my lack of interesting attributes.

If you show up to Bluesky without following anyone, you'll be treated to a series of posts about art, music, and dogs. If you show up to X without following anyone, you'll be bombarded with right-wing conspiracies and white supremacist slop. It's weird which one is seen as a "political bubble"

Looking forward to seeing Ohio's Republican senators -- the one currently running for re-election and the one currently running away from his daughter's allegations of abuse -- respond to this Max Miller address.

the thing about having actual principles is that when a politician I respect does some stupid shit I can just be like, “that sucks, knock it off” instead of inventing an imaginary world where I’m forced to defend stupid shit for procedural 4d chess reasons

Why does every single person in this administration act like they aren’t currently in power. JOE BIDEN DIDN’T PROCURE ENOUGH PAC-3 INTERCEPTORS Okay. Well. You knew that when you started the war. You knew what the stockpiles were. You didn’t increase capacity. How is this on him.

WELKER: Is America backing away from a larger attack bc our stockpile has been depleted? WALTZ: We have to take a step back. A lot of our stockpiles were depleted because of Biden WELKER: But you acknowledge they're depleted? WALTZ: No. And the people leaking this nonsense deserve to be in jail

Their plan is to say as little as possible and win by default, which in their mind is the safest path that doesn't alienate anyone. This misses the opportunity to galvanize the public around important issues, and then they throw up their hands about how the voters are ignorant and apathetic

I do find it amazing that even in this moment, the Dems can't come up with some sort of "Contract for America" like language that offers an alternative to Trump. Maybe they have it, but whatever governing vision they have is lost in the noise.

Somehow I am cursed to personally know not one but TWO of the candidates in the Virginia 7 Republican primary and they are both in the bottom 5% of people I would want in charge of anything

No, No, no. Look, are there lessons to learn from this debacle? Sure. Drone warfare, mag depth, etc. But the solution here is not 'yet more tactical excellence or tech.' It is 'the president asked the impossible of the military and they should have said so.' www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

The War Is Lost. Now Fix What It Broke.

America has to rethink how it moves resources, fights wars, and deters adversaries.

Your job as a GM in TTRPGs is to give people reasons to care. Your job as a player is to do your best to care. Without both parties investing in their parts of the process it becomes impossible to engage in collaborative storytelling, improv, and fun combats.

bro what? whatever your view of the bare political realities here, and I strongly disagree with his, at some point you do need to step back and ask “am I openly conditioning my support for a candidate on his willingness to attack children for living their lives?”
